30.11.2020 Another decent day. Nothing too curious. Had over 120 beans, but slowly. Didn't get any problems from them. I guess at some point I may want to start taking less, so I can re-develop my sensitivity to caffeine. It worked before. Deadlift Warmup 180 - 3 sets of 8 200*1 for the first time in a long while - with a hook grip Some overhand curls with an empty bar, a tiny bit of rear kicks for extra bloodflow. Did a lot of drumming - got better, I hope. Recorded a couple important parts. Tried recording a fast part, but only could keep in time for five bars, then I got out of beat. I think I need to fix my bass drum better. Most important revelation of the day - when recording live drums, you really have to lower the input volume on the audio interface/mixer. Unless you're playing super quietly, of course. Then you may want to increase it. And I really need to work on solidifying my bass pedal technique - it's all over the place. Fix the drum, stick with the heel-toe f...

28.11.20 Very nice day. Did some important things, had some coffee, didn't get screwed up in the head from it - although I felt like I was close. Bench Warmup 50*30 70*10 100*8 115*15 pretty ugly, but it is a small pr 115*16 last rep didn't really count, cause I just racked it without locking out 100*8 accent on the upper portion of the lift - but not getting my elbows to 180 degrees, cause that'd hurt 70*8 Played around with rings, tried to get them into a position for dips, gave up on that after a while Did a lot of drumming, recorded a few bars even. Ended up trying to learn a new beat with some off-beat bass drum hits. Managed to replicate it on 60 bpm. I need to count more. And I need to practice fills more. Then I did prone pullups on rings - doin them right now, in fact 30 - then 24 - then 18+2+2+2 - really nice, strong pump Something off-topic, but really curious for the   r andom pi cture of th e d ay  File:Omori Hikoshichi Meets a Demon on the Road LACMA M.84....

25.11.2020 Simple day. Had a lot of coffee - too much, but didn't get screwed up. Nice. Deadlift Warmup - nice and explosive, although my joints do feel a bit tired of my weightful regularity. 220 - 2 sets of 2 223*2 And that was it. Jammed for a bit with my new TH-U metal plugic (a variety of amp simulators). Couldn't help myself, bought it recently, since they were offering it with a discount. So far I am quite pleased with the tones. Made a really cool jam in 5/4, simply named it "a chromatic experiment in 5/4". It's the best jam I've played in the last week, really captivating. Also I used curious drum samples - wanted to drum before a session, but felt like it would really load my CNS. What if it's the drums that make me really jumpy?!.. Gotta get my hands on some kind of earplugs. I think I'll upload the track some time soon.     26.11.2020 Nice day. Had too much coffee. Didn't get screwed up, thankfully. That means my chances of "cross...

This is my introduction thread on metalforum.com Hi, my name's Ivan, some of my friends like to call me Silan, that's also my very old username on metal archives. Also my name is Ivan4n09 on some other sites. I've been listening to metal since 2010, and a bit before that ofc, if you count casually liking Black Sabbath and Motorhead on the radio. But what really got me into metal was Manowar - the band and the lyrics and themes were everything that I liked and identified myself with. Maximum power, absolute TRUEness, hail, hail, hail xD After that my interests evolved further, firsth to  NWOBHM  (specifically a lot of Saxon), then I went through a mighty obsession with doom metal and I still do love it, then, at some point, death metal, which at first felt a lot like guilty pleasure (my first ever  DM  band that I loved listening to was Kataklysm, then some dutch scene - Gorefest and Asphyx). Metal to me was always like a soundtrack to my life, a way t...

23.11.2020 Nice day. Good old vicious cycle of coffee. Had too much, in a bad way. It released a lot of cortisol or something in my head, I became very irritable and frustrated even before the session. Well, first - after a first batch of coffee - I was all nice and inspired. I remastered my last "improv" track and wanted to upload it, but my "free version" of a video editor from 10 years ago is, apparently, quite bad and distorted the song by adding a humming sound. I tried finding workarounds, including uploading straight to youtube music, but, apparently, it's only good for your own personal playlist, if you ever want to have it online. My joints were acting up real bad yesterday, one hip and one knee, didn't get much sleep, but in the end, it was all okay. Made a decision to move my DLs to wednesday, instead do my forgotten bench on monday (today). Bench 50*60  70*30 102,8 for 22 reps - really ugly, but it is a mini PR - +2 reps, +2.5 kgs 102,8 for 20 e...

21.11.2020 Nice day. Might have had a lot of coffee. Played guitar a bit, felt nice, I was able to play surprisingly precisely. Overhead press Warmup 90*3 105 - 2 sets of 2 107,8 for 2 Pushpess 70*2 Some height jumps onto an indoor porch - I made sure to jump onto almost straight legs, so the jump itself is higher 100*1 120*1 easy, but bent my wrists in a wrong manner 130*1 easy 140 - attempt - waived a bit on a push, was close on a lockout 142 - nice, but not there. Held it for a moment in a near lockout position. Ran out of time. Doing pushpresses was a semi-random decision - I do feel like I need to keep doing some bench for a nice assistance exercise. Also I might post a track I've been working on. I need to learn more about blog code, so I don't have to dance around embedding a video - if it is, for example, only available through link. Or just post a link here, that works too. Gotta do a tiny bit more accesory work, I don't feel llike I've done enough. Also, ...

19.11.2020 Nice day. Had 78 beans too early, then I wrote a nice random midi composition. Then I had more coffee. Bought netflix again recently, wanted to watch "Galavant", but apparently, it's not there anymore. So I'm just gonna watch umbrella academy season 2 - very interesting, especially when you start to see the plot points and writers' intentions. Also randomly came across a b-movie "underground 6" - maybe I'll watch it later today. Deadlift Nice warmup, explosive 70*15 110*8 140*3 180*3 208 - 2 sets of 3 - bad technique, cause I start with fully vertical shins, and because of that I have to straighten my legs before lockout, like in sumo 140*8 touch and go - remembered the better technique 230*1 - easy, this time I humped the air a bit to accumulate proper cns energy in my legs, and started with my shins angles towards the ground a bit more, so the movement was normal and smooth. Ended up fiddling with the bass drum for too long - re-runing ...

18.11.2020 Nice day. Had 78 beans. Really wanted to have more, decided to just have some thick tea instead. Starting to get a bit worried about my CNS, because I was jumpy today again. Maybe it was just an unlucky moment. Overhead press Warmup - not enough L-flies 40*15 70*8 90*5 103,1 - 2 sets of 3 Lights went out 103,1 for one and a half - ended up pressing in the wrong direction, also arms were unbalanced in the dark Put on music and placed a candle a bit further, so there was more light 103,1*3 - better, but my grip was really uneven in the dark Then I went up to my room, did some light dumbbell presses One arm dumbbell press - 16 kgs - 3 sets of 15 Some flies with 6 kg dumbbells Bodyweight squats in an explosive manner - 3 sets of 15, felt nice. Gotta do more explosive bodyweight stuff. Received my new drumheads for the bass drum and the snare, and also my new china cymbal. I think I'll write more about them on some other day.

16.11.2020 Woke up way too early - too much time had passed before a training session. Had way too much coffee - I keep condemning myself for this, because it does make me feel worse. I'll have exactly 78 beans on wednesday. Deadlift 50*15 super speed and explosiveness 100*10 about the same 140*5 180*5 - still pretty fast 200 - 3 sets of 5 - only one rep of those was touch and go Standing on the knees dl lockout 100 - 2 sets of 8 One leg raises - 2 sets of 20 Prone one leg curl - 5 kg - 2 sets of 20 - feels good One hand pinching - 25+15 kg plates - 7 sets for each hand. Lifted up 25+25 with the right hand once. Did some drum practice in the end. I really need to get some discipline with my sleep. On saturday I woke up early after a short sleep on friday, so on sunday I fell asleep way too early, then I woke up way too early on monday, and now I'm too tired and my session wasn't too enjoyable. Well, it was quite satisfying, to be honest, but it didn't feel good. And ca...

14.11.2020 Nice day. Had 120 beans over a lot of water, then had 60 something beans. Didn't get me very hard at all. I think it might be connected to the fact that I barely slept yesterday and fell asleep very early, so I woke very early today. Had a decent breakfast. Then did some things, it all felt good. Very nice blog over here, lol Played around in Cakewalk with my last drum recording - and impulsively ordered my first ever new plastics, for bass and snare drum. Perhaps it'll make my practice more satisfying. I'm thinking I might not use my currect drums for my song at all. They're nice, but really trashy, thin, crumbly sound. I think you can hear it on my last jam track. Where did I post it? In a post some time this month. Bench Warmup 95*24 + 5 and a half - nice, dropped the bar on my face slowly, couldn't lock out the triceps JM press 50*12 30*15 Some rubber pulls Rubber supported chinups - 2 sets of 10 Squat (low bar) 40*10 60*10 80*10 Did a lot of guitar ...

12.11.2020 Decent day. Woke up too late, had a nice sandwich for breakfast - I should melt the cheese in a gas oven, rather than a microwave one. It was ok though. Or perhaps I should just melt the cheese on top of the meat without the bread. Basically I took a thin slie of pork, roasted it well, put it on salad and tomatoes, put some cheese on top of it, and it all between two slices of bread, and slathered one piece with some ketchup. And put a few bit of hot pepper inside. Turned out nice. I think I'm sleeping way too much. In some way, it's good, but I feel like I want to come back to a more normal lifestyle for at least some time. Overhead press Warmup, a lot of L-flies, my left arm needs more of that, it needs more stretch. 50*8 70*5 90*5 very hard, wasn't amped properly 100 - 5 sets of 4 - nice and easy, amped nicely. Had an awesome moment when I was coming to the barbell singing along to Manowar's King of Kings. Almost every time I sing along to Manowar before ...

11.11.2020 Decent day. Had 128 beans of coffee, avoided caffeine distortion, thankfully. Deadlift Warmup 50*8 100*8 140*8 170*8 175 - 2 sets of 8 Did a tiny bit of rubber pulls of lats and som calf raises. Did a lot of drumming - recorded some parts, have to engineer them later, recorded some random jamming, then I recorded separate hits on all the intruments for a new sample library - it might really come in handy. Cooked some pudding, put it in a cold room - couldn't find an old recipe that I used, so I just went instinctively, turned out ok so far, at least that's what I can say now, put it in a cold room. Today's the first time I made pudding with corn starch instead of potato starch, I hope it's gonna make it better for my stomach. I actually added some whey powder in it - it's vanilla flavored, should turn out nice. Spent a lot of time mixing it, might even post a cute pic later. It's been chilling for almost two hours now. P.S. Finally uploaded a video o...

09.11.2020 Nice day, recovery is it about 71/100. Did some satisfying things, had 102 coffee beans. Today was planned to be a generally light session. Shoulders felt a tiny bit tired since saturday - warmup felt hard, but right when I got to working weights it became really easy. Overhead press Warmup 50*15 70*8 85,3*8 - working weight 87,8 - 2 sets of 8 Did a couple sets of swift pushpresses with 50 and 60.  RDL - 50 kgs - 2 sets of 15 Wanted to work my lats a bit, so I did some rubber pulling. Wanted to do some floor supported pullups with a rope and a stick, but it turned out to be surprisingly tiring. I did a set of 12 something. Well, it was too late, it was outside of my normal plan. I really want to buy an extra cymbal, preferably either a china or a nice sounding crash, something thin and bright and "wavery", I guess. Wanted to do some drumming today, but it was too late again. Might do it tomorrow or on wendesday. I have a moderately hard DL planned on wednesday. No...

05.11.2020 Deadlift Warmup 210*3 215 - 2 sets of 3 That's about it. I felt ill that day. Ruined by throat on wednesday by sniffing too much ammonia. CNS got in a bad state, was whining inside of my head too much, using a lot of that "inhibition power" that tends to run out after some time. That's why instead of forbidding yourself to follow your impulses you should better distract yourself, before you run out of energy and follow that possibly dark impulse. Don't follow your impulses, think for yourself. Be in control. Recover your energy. 07.11.2020 Nice day. Been sleeping rather poorly. Overall recovery quality is at about 59/100. Bench Warmup 77,8 kgs - 40 + 5 + 5 77,8 kgs - 15 + 5 + 5 + 5 a bit stricter (pluses mean "pause-rest" technique) 50*15 Squat 2 sets of 15 50 kgs - 2 sets of 15 Stiff leg DL 50 - 2 sets of 15 One leg curls 5 kgs - 2 sets of 15 - feels nice, no cramping today Measured my chest after bench, turned out to be over 130 cms. Feels ...

04.11.2020 Nice day. Recovery (quality of it) is at about 80/100. Had 128 beans of coffee with some biscuits, almost didn't have any issues. Overhead press Warmup 60*15 80*10 100 - 3 sets of 3 103,1*3 Pushpress 60*2 80*2 100*1 120*1 poor lockout 120*1 better 130*1 also poor lockout 130*0 just push Ran out of time at this point, but decided to go further Held 180 on my shoulders for a few seconds 130*1 very nice and fast, easy push I gotta do at least easy pushpresses every time I do overheads, gotta keep the movement in proper shape. BW in clothing - 109,1 kgs. On monday I decided to play around and improvise, made a nice little track with the random drum beats that I recorded during a session. Took me way too long, because I was writing down the tabs simultaneously. Did almost everything, except for bass, which I did yesterday. It was a lot of fun. Ended up with a nice instrumental track - decided to call it "Tunnel Metal" - because of the state of "tunnel vision...

02 nov 2020 - Training session & my review of the movie "Aloft" (2014)

02.11.2020 Well, today I had my new XLR cable delivered, as well as extra bass strings. Decent recovery, about 78/100. Had 100 something beans of coffee - plus three biscuits to even out negative effects of caffeine, such as craving more caffeine. Got "Wagon Wheels" yesterday, a nostalgic sweet. Overhead press Warmup 60*15 80*5 95 - 2 sets of 5 97,8*5 Shoulders were still quite whacked since saturday, but it was alright. Deadlift 60*15 110*5 150*5 180*5 200*5 very soft touch & go - so much better than dumping the barbell 200*5 - 2 reps from the floor, 3 touch and go 200*5 - same Then I ran out of time. I was taking rather long breaks, because I, once again, was supersetting my metal session with drumming. Warmups on the drum during press, setting up recording and playing during DLs. I kept speeding up today, playing faster than 118. Decided to try only playing two bars - it helped. Now I have an insane mess of recordings to engineer - might not do it today, but perhaps t...
