June 8th/9th - overcoming myself to arrive to 4 "sets" of 8 with 250

Hint from the 3rd: try pushing your knees past the bar, "sharp" into it
***
Well, it's the 8th, technically already 9th - I'm straight up starting a workout past midnight. It's not gonna be too much, but it will be effortful!
I had one really, really nice coffee. Then I took such a violent shit I immediately got hungry - and we're out of snacks of any kind, we only got raw food and I ate all the meat I cooked this morning. I also had some millet porridge, it was very nice. Heh, porridge. It's a Russian meme and it's kinda too true about me although I am a millennial. I like the western shit too much! But I am a patriot. I don't like their fucking politics, you better believe me on that.
Anyway, so I had one really nice conventional.
Deadlift
20 for 20
70 for 8 - counting it as four twos
163 for 8 - same here, DOHG, kinda slow. It's super humid, I'm sweating.
213 for 8 - heck, man, that was torture. That was weird. It was a super long "set" four four 2s. The weather is not helping. I agreed with myself I was done today, I bargained. I agreed it was enough. It was hard.
Before this set I had a compulsion - I wanted to take nitroglycerin. I know, I know, that's why it's a "compulsion". I'm not normal. I used to take it after the workout on occasion. I just wanted to take it and see what happens when NO floods my body. It's masochistic, it's stupid. SOMETHING stopped me from taking it before 213. But after this set I gave into my compulsion and found an old blister pack of caviar-like suckables. I took one and put it under my tongue and went upstairs, WONDERING if I should maybe continue. I felt a little weird so I took that little glycerine-caviar-ball that I only sucked for a few minutes and put it on the plate.
I had to admit to it. I have to keep myself and my superstitious uncontrolled mind accountable in case something happens to me.
I knew I was going to try and do 250 after all.
250,5 for 8 - interesting. Again, I'm afraid I can't call it a normal set - it took too long, but perhaps it was faster than 213? Subjectively it felt faster. Hey, so long as I acknowledge it 😉
It would be so ridiculous to have a workout where I basically do these "rest-pause" sets that last up to three minutes... Maybe I'll film the 3rd and 4th - depends on how the second feels. It it DOES get me to be stronger then it'll have been worth it.
Also, my technique was wildly different throughout. There were very bad reps in that set, but the last one for example was great. Big belly, high pressure, good speed. I wanna see how I might be able to improve it...
250,5 for 8 - really slow too but NGL this one made me happy... If I was an iota more deluded I'd have labeled it a normal set! Reps 7 and 8 were really fast, and powerful too! Also, good thing - my skin isn't suffering too much from straps today.
A small tidbit I've been employing - when I do the "humping" before and at the start of the rep I stand ON MY HEELS, rather than the whole foot, and I'm shifting the weight FROM heels to MIDDLE of the foot.
250,5 for 8 - alright! I really pushed this one. Filmed it, yet to take a look... I did four reps fast, then two, then two. Also I locked out fully on the reps here, unlike on some of the earlier sets - because I think I was still in the half-ass mode TBH.
250,5 for 8 - a little better 😁 I pushed it too. I got sick of death metal and put on Manowar - Louder Than Hell. That was the rightest choice!
Unloaded the bar, vibing to the music.
One hand barbell holds from the side
70 kg - 4 sets of about 10 seconds each side. Feeling my obliques, and my forearms got pumped a little bit too. It was fun. I promised myself to skip all the DOHG stuff I've been doing recently and gave myself a little dessert with this one, a lot of fun and possibly some benefit from flexing my obliques, one of the forgotten muscles lol.
Let's now take a look at how long each set took...
The third set took two minutes 28 seconds. The fourth - three minutes sixteen seconds 😁 Oh my gosh. Oh well! Something to improve. Too much messing around in my head. At least both of the, can be counted as "normal" six rep sets, because in both these sets the first six reps were done within ninety seconds. I think if I just improved my cardio it'd be better 🤔
The other day I ordered a bunch of chinese-produced jackets that were the same as mine but in multicam... They all seem to have the same design and I wanted to pick the one that fits me the best. They were pretty good! Not good enough for April perhaps, not for spending more than 30 minutes outdoors... Unless you had a vest on all the time lol, then they were way warmer. I bought them - ordered them - five items from different shops so I can buy the one that fits me - and now, after watching some reviews of coats and vests from some nice channels I wonder if I should go and, well, NOT buy them... First of all there's a small chance I'll get an identical one, I already have an okay camo coat locally produced... I just hate that I wasted somebody's time, yeesh. TBF some of those were definitely rejects - someone else ordered it from China and chose not to purchase... Silly.
As I was playing around downstairs I got struct with a lovely wave of inspiration. I must not miss out on it... Let's charge up by listening to - and reading - Penrod some more. It really does affect my style in a lot of ways 😁
I wouldn't call today a PR but I will tag it nonetheless - so when I do a GOOD 4 sets of 8 with a big weight I can come back to this one and compare.
I threw away the sucked pill of nitroglycerin - I think it might not have had any effect, although I did feel a little weird in my chest, a little 'windy' if that makes any sense at all - after I took it and then took it out, after 213.
I'll improve my DL cardio. I can do it, with God's grace! 😀☦ Hallelujah!
