June 6th - morning workout, DL 255 for 6 sets of 4
06.06.2026
So, I wanted to have an OHP / PP day today but that honestly doesn't make much sense. No, I've again switched to daytime, if not to say morningtime, and I hope this time it'll stay up long enough. It's 7:47 AM and I just took a sip of my first ever conventional. I think I'll get to my DLs in two hours.
Food: great. Sleep: too.
I wanted to have a "heavy-light" workout yesterday but ended up working to over 90 percent of my max. It would have been okay if I changed up my technique a little, had better energy AND didn't have a clouded mind from the fact that I'm working out at the unusual time of the day. But no, the plan would have been to do 5-4 sets of 2 up to no more than 150. But I listened to my ambitions of getting 200 rather soon which might or might not be a little deluded, given that it's not in my priority. No, DL is in second place, and PP is in first place.
But in order to have PP in first place I'd have to move up squats and front squats much, much higher, as well as other weird little weightlifting-style exercises.
Maybe I'll do more than DL today, we'll see.
The plan is to do 5 sets of 4 with 255 - rather easy stuff. Well, obviously it's not, I can't think it's easy ffs! It was pretty hard to do what I did on Monday / Tuesday.
It's been an hour. Kinda just surfing the web and thinking on the end of chapter 7 rw4. It's kinda annoying that I didn't give these chapters any names! But names can be misleading, that's the problem. Hmm.
Maybe I will give the names after all. Why not? Not a big deal. I just don't want the reader to read the name of the chapter and figure out what's gonna happen IF it's not what the chapter starts with. Because if it is right under the name then it's okay. If it's the first scene, there's a clear enough logical connection between the chapter name and the first scene. Because chapter names are very useful.
I think I will write today. It's hot now, as annoying as yesterday. Downstairs it's not as hot. My room is getting lit up by the eastern June sun.
My brain is well stimulated. I just... I THINK I'll have a SMALL coffee! There, a solution.
Made a 31/375 conventional. Drinking it. It's not as hot in the room.
Last DL session I made a half-conscious mistake and took a narrow stance. I'll make sure not to do it today. ALSO I think I will do a 180 kg warmup between 160 and 200 - BECAUSE I wanna do DOHG in a nice controlled manner. I honestly can't believe I did 190 and 200 for 10 DOHG... Well, to be fair, I did them a-la rest pause and my technique was deteriorating.
Workout
Deadlift
20 for 10
70 for 8
120
160 for 4 DOHG
180 for 4 DOHG - nice!
190 for 4 DOHG - even better, although some technique issues start to show
200 for 4 DOHG - the third rep was the best. First was decent too. Second and fourth - a bit doubtful, but I decided to count them today.
233 for 4 straps
255,5 for 4 - each rep was good and had nice speed, BUT I was growing angry because I could not find a nice balance point! You're telling me I have THAT MUCH of a scoliosis or something? Or is it the bar that is unevenly marked that's giving me issues??? Very annoying. BUT I think I should be able to fix it, I have that feeling somehow... Hm.
255,5 for 4 - much better, I even did first two reps without a break, without having to finagle around! The other two reps were okay-ish. I like how the bar isn't wiggling too much today - but the sleeves are sliding off continuously.
255,5 for 4 - better! Three reps without breaks, all nice and fast - because I fixed the unevenness after the first rep, then the fourth rep also done fast and controlled!
255,5 for 4 nice. Three reps fast, then I had to take off my belt and put it on again, cause it went uneven. Today I'm wearing a slightly oversized tanktop and apparently it's not the best choice for DL - the belt keeps sliding weird!
255,5 for 4 nice, but I gotta admit I am growing a little fatigued at this point. BUT I know I got what it takes, especially since all reps here were fast.
255,5 for 4 nice, well done
A while later
Shrugs, with the elbow / forearm bones pointing up a-la high pull
70 - 3 sets of 10
Pullups, wide grip
2 sets of 5 with knees on green rubber, stretched it vertically on the hooks around where my belt usually is. There's very little support at the top point.
Kinda shameful, isn't it? 😁 But I'm not light or young. I just wanna do something without straining too much! Close to being exhausted here. These two sets were done in a very quick succession, and then I did
2 sets of 10 with that rubber - to prove my pullups aren't completely shitty 😁 TBF it's been ages since I done wide grip pullups... Need to do them more if I want to improve my olympic weightlifting-adjacent skills.
Another break and I went outside where it was hot and sunny although the sun has moved to south-south-west.
Narrow parallel bar pullups - 5 really nice ones and 1 more rep - but at this point my skin has been excessively abused, how annoying! Some tissues were slightly tender - forearm rotators.
I realize now why olympic weightlifters do a lot of back work - they don't just need back strength, but they need back to stay in a good tone, because then their front rack and their back position on clean and jerk is significantly impacted.
Torokhtiy uses the "twerk squat" for warmups - i.e. goodmorning+squat in different variations - while Klokov seems to prefer the conventional GHDs/extensions/goodmornings however you call them.
Alright, that's it. It's very fatiguing, all of it, but I feel great. If only I wasn't emotionally aggravated - very slightly, I admit - it would have been perfect. Next time I'll make sure to maintain a better zen in me, in my definition of zen, heh. Also maybe I'll still write something today... I foresee I might have a burst of energy a little later.
