May 20th - Bench sets of 8, Light-medium Squat - close to being back in shape
20.05.2026
Today should be a nicer day! Yesterday wasn't bad, of course, but peculiar - I feel better recovered today, CNS primed. That's the power of taking a shower 😂
It'd be lovely if I didn't feel like a wreck tomorrow. What could I do to sidestep it? Well, not having too much fun today would be the start, yes.
I got Bench press today. AND I'll work up to a moderate weight for a single in my Squat. That's the plan! Also writing, I don't have anything stopping me and I have a good enough amount of time.
I am so many things in one. Layer upon layer, but also not really a layer, more like a thing becoming a completely different thing. What gives? That's how I feel, heh heh.
Is it possible my body knows I'm not planning to violate it and stress it out with DL and that's why it's happy? 😁 It doesn't need to worry, I'm trying to care about it, especially my hip and my foot!
So, I'm vibing, actually having caffeine for the first time in a while. Before yesterday I woke up at 7, yesterday at 5, today at 3. Will I be able to go to sleep early enough and wake up at 1 PM? I hope so.
It's 8 PM now. I've been thinking on figuring out an algorithm that allows you to get your shit together and keep doing stuff when your mind is cloudy. I already sort of have it, but I sometimes still lose it.
"Get your shit together" - focus on "together" - is a good one. Ask yourself - and then tell yourself: where you are, what state you are in, what you are doing, what you need to do, what you're planning to do. I'm at home, going to the garage gym soon, I feel kinda hot and sweaty but good - but will need more water. I'm waiting, amping up my CNS, trying to grasp the "peak of the wave" for both writing and lifting. I'm planning to either do some book-reading downstairs or upstairs with an audiobook, then pick up the little childhood Bible I have (for writing, cause I'm seeking inspiration there), give it a couple impressions, start writing, formulate the outline of a scene in my mind, then continue or begin my warmup, then write some more, then put on clothing and go downstairs, set up my bench and start benching. Don't forget to warmup your L-flys! (not flies)
Workout
Warmup - wall pushups, very gentle, four sets, then some pushup planks, THEN L-flys - did not forget!
I think me tearing off the old stickers from the bar might have been a mistake. They helped me orient better on DL... Might make new ones, the ones I'm sure about.
Bench press
20 - 40 - 60 - 70
90 for 8
100 for 8
110 for 8
120 then 130 for 4 - sort of as a double set, but I gotta tell you! Those are kinda way easier than sets of 8, even if you increase the weight - cause your muscle gets a chance to breathe.
140 for 8 - kinda hard but not too much. Gotta amp up my whole body better and we'll see if I have better reserves, heh...
140 for 7+1 - ah, what a shame, my setup was really uncomfortable here so all the reps were kinda uneven, except for the 8th one! Because I dumped it on the rack and it slid back too much, so I was pressing over my upper pecs all wrong. I'll make sure to fix it on the third set, I tell you what! Well, I fixed it before the 8th rep, but I'll check it again.
140 for 8 - better! 7 bouncing reps, one paused right on the chest and that was hard 😁
Unloaded the bar down to 70, did some writing upstairs. I did not read any books to "prime" my brain but I did listen to an audiobook and read the book on wikisource - Penrod, by Booth Tarkington - in an attempt to prime my brain, it was fun but I don't think it did the job as well as normal reading would have done. Nonetheless, I wrote, managed almost a thousand words. Well, Marco is in a similar state to the one I am in now. Ending the first "story arc", but I think I might not be completely done today.
Squat
70 for 5
90 for 2 sets of 5
From here - singles
110 - 130 - 140 - 150
Wore wraps on 150 just to feel them. Squat feels good! Everything was easy, all weights felt light, everything is nice and tight. Maybe I'll get to doing some heavy work on Squat at some point soon!
