March 14th, Saturday - DL 5x5, rare morning workout

 14.03.2026

Another extremely rare morning workout. I had good sleep for two days in a row so I'm pulling an "alldayer". Got some stuff to do to later today.

Had one conventional coffee yesterday, then one half a large cup of this instant coffee which made me rather drowsy and then one 35/420 double ground conventional. Also I ran out of Jardin and these last two conventional coffees were the washing machine company coffee, pretty nice and thick.

Deadlift

20 for 20

70 for 12

120 for 8

163 for 5

203 for seven overall reps - OHG except for three reps; one ohg under knee (bad), one over knee (almost okay) and one mixed grip

233 for 5 - taking breaks between reps, but they all were done with a hook grip. And guess what? It's actually a PR in my hook grip DL. I have never done a hook grip DL with this weight for 5 reps. And all of a sudden the tissues in my hands are all good and painless? That's gotta be some kind of blessing.

253 for 5 - nice. Two reps reverse mixed grip, two normal, one straps. Gotta remember not to ever drop the bar from the mixed grip! Else skin just goes away.

253 for 5 - nice, same approach to grip (2 reps reverse mixed - 2 mixed - 1 straps) except much faster and less skin-rubbing. I really enjoyed my reps one and three cause I did not damage my skin at all despite it being mixed grip. Reps two and four, however, they were rough - cause I was letting go too early. I'll try to fix this mistake on the next set as well.

255,5 for 5 - same kind of gripping, even better tempo, skin going away

255,5 for 5 - one rep reverse mixed grip, 4 straps. Did one rep and somehow could not lower it under complete control. It felt like the nerve endings in my skin were bent, so it hurt a lot when I tried gripping it the second time. So I resorted to straps. Only a couple reps felt easy. Otherwise it feels very good.

258 for 5 - hard set, straps. 4 reps relatively quickly, then I had to stand up and let my nasal passages open, and then the 5th rep, walked back and racked it. Didn't get dizzy, good enough oxygen saturation. Feeling a bit of tension in my right side - it got loaded unevenly. Otherwise I am really happy with how this workout turned out. My body works well, very good performance. Close to a "machine", but not really there. The reverse mixed grip was quite the doozy 😁 BUT the hook grip set was kinda amazing. The OHG was so much better than last time - considering the bar has been flipped. Grip is stronger, hands are healthier. I am also again entering a period of "daytime living". Today maybe it's not necessarily the first day, but we have entered this period. With an "alldayer" lol.

70 for 12 - stiff legged short range DL - that is actually excessive lol. I think I ran out of "reserved" energy after the third working set - you know, the one I was actually ready for, the one my recent training has allowed to lift comfortably. But I'm really glad I had the "extra" energy and it was good enough to do all that. I also think it's possible I could have done better if I wasn't taking relatively long breaks in the end, cause of how tired I am. But that's only a possibility...
