February 26th - Decent PP workout, unracking on each rep
26.02.2026
Nice day. Slept a lot. I think I'm on my way to accidentally switching into night mode again! But today I woke up early. Well, not accidentally, more like cyclically.
THORASIC SPINE, also known as UPPER BACK - it's IMPORTANT for PP. YOU CAN lean back when unracking the bar - and it HELPS A LOT. important cue! You can lean back for the same reason you can lean forward - when you lean forward your upper back is stiffer, better energy transwer but if you lean forward too much it'll tranfer in the wrong direction. AND you can lean back for that same reason - even though some energy might escape into your back's "springiness", your grip on the bar will be much better! ALSO you can unrack 'leaned back', get a good grip on the bar, and then lean forward, obtaining perfectly optimized stretch between all limbs and tissues.
Workout
Warmup - a while, decently thorough
Overhead press
20 - 50 - 70 - 70
90 - 2 sets of 5 feeling good
90 for 2 feeling strange
Push press
70 - 2 sets of 3
100 for 3
105 for 3 - good thing! I think I'm starting to feel it. Good energy transfer, from legs to bar. But it's still a little raw.
110 for 3 kinda worse
110 for 3 with an unrack on every rep - better! Very interesting stuff. If you unracked on every rep you'd have between 2 and 5 times more unracks! That oughta train it better, the actual front rack.
113 for 3 - I had a mishap here and dropped the bar on the floor after the first rep. But hten I loaded it down to 103 and power cleaned it somewhat easily! I was surprised cause halfway through my clean I gave up and wanted to drop it. I guess my clean isn't completely de-trained!
115 for 3 - again, all three reps have their own unrack. I'm starting to become satisfied here!
118 for 3 kinda hard, but feeling satisfied. It's super hard to force yourself to go ahead and unrack the bar again when your tissues are stinging!
But, the great thing - all my tissues today feel really nice, tough and springy, not like wood at all, much more like rubber. That's honestly amazing. I even decided not to wear wrist straps at all, cause they're started to muss things up on one of the sets.
120 for 3 - very nice, really hard. Wrist were loaded but not hurting. The tendon at the base of the thumb was really bouncing. Again, each rep was unracked.
I was choking myself on some reps today. I'm thinking that could possibly have been LITERAL choking! Cause I actually was pushing the bar into my neck and not supporting it with my wrists well enough! Very interesting stuff.
103 for 3 struggle, really hard - I think I might have drained my energy at this point.
Good enough! I really wish my PP was better. But today's session was very good, especially compared to the previous one. I had confusing feelings about the previous one. My lifts were bad that day but they were strangely satisfying. Today my lifts were good and I know I am moving towards really nice PP technique - but I'm not there yet, and that's possibly why I'm upset.
Also all the lat work and curling yesterday might have contributed to tightness in my arms. However, I don't think I shouldn't have done it yesterday. No, when you reach a good shape and you have good technique it should not matter.
MUST TRY THIS WARMUP next time https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4d4rtic3bA
Also, I wonder - what if holding the bar low on back can help? Like in low bar squat. Might be counter intuitive, but I do wonder.
