February 8th, Sunday - Bench press sets of 6, good prehab work
08.02.2026
I gotta tell you, this blog - it's kind of an underrated thing for keeping up my discipline.
I bought some new instant coffee - Eilles Kaffee Gourmet, made a big oldschool military-style cup I used to make - pretty nice. Then a 31/372 conventional Jardin cafe eclair. Some pretty random IRL stuff happening. God is protecting me from doing extremely bad things - but seems He has a role for me to play.
Brain was a little jittery at first, second batch feels somewhat smooth, tastes really good. I've been unable to play FO4 for a while, since for a few days I was hoping I could work out and didn't, and yesterday I also fell asleep from exhaustion.
It's been over a week since I've done a heavy-ish bench. Today I wanna do sets of six - step two in the microcycle. I'm thinking somewhere between heavy and medium-heavy for this range. Around 140. I'm in a good shape, but not perfect for Bench. Haven't I done 4 sets of 10 with 140? Don't remember.
Workout
Warmup - wall pushups 3 sets, pushup position stretching
Bench
20 - 50
100 for 10
120
130 for 6
140 - 3 sets of 6 not bad, some technical imperfections, let's call it that. Wrist okay though
143 for 6 nice, no music but forced myself to gather up to prove I don't need music
148 for 6 nice, bouncy, only some imbalance
148 for 6 - very decent, good control except for the 5th rep which I only pressed to the sticking point rather than past it. Just gotta note it, keep myself accountable! All sets so far have been wide grip, middle finger on markings
100 for 11 - accessory, a strict pause both on lockout and chest - going fully still, wide grip as well
100 for 10 - medium thumbless grip - worth doing on occasion for variety, so you don't strain the same exact parts all the time. Given that, there is of course such a thing as too much variety.
I did kinda not enough squat/hip stretches yesterday. I wanna vary it. I felt very good doing a pushup stretch on all fours today, variations of cricket stance. I've gotten pretty good at warming up for Bench press.
Squat
3 sets of 10 feels nice
Supersetted with -
Squat / hip static holds and stretches - 3 sets, going deeper. Watching an inspiring video by Enkiri fitness - he's pretty oldschool! His approach is a little too varied for me personally, but I know we're both outliers in some ways. Mostly because we're both natties and we believe in something important deep inside.
