December 20th, Saturday - DL, sets of 8

 20.12.2025

Ate well, slept okay. Nice day. Feeling stable. Belly pretty full even though I only ate two types of food. I woke up a little earlier than normal (rn I'm living at night) and had one pork cutlet with a piece of bread and 37/444 coffee. Coffee got cold quick.

I've started playing Fallout 4 again. Makes sense, there's way too much hype right now! Watched the rest of the Fallout show before yesterday. I liked the cinematics, but there was way too much lore dump, and, well, ruining the games. And I am upset that the damn dirigible was still floating. Although I really sort of loved BoS in FO4 when I first played it. Ah, back to talking about this silly game again.

FO4 has that absolutely uncanny, liminal mood that I personally really vibe with. And somehow the new edition has been running well. Although I haven't made it to the city yet, where it usually runs poorly. It's got that really weird, really captivating atmosphere. A really nice looking sky, nature, all that. So strange, so uncanny.

Today I wanna do some more writing, something really fun. I've been abstaining from plunging into deeper "fun" yesterday. AND I will be deadlifting. I'm thinking of doing sets of 8 again. I think I'll do 2 sets with 230 and THEN two sets with 245! How's that for a snack, eh?

It's kinda hard to have your shit together. But it'll be good. My breathing is a little weird, I don't know why. I hope it's nothing serious. I have been showering way more this week, addicted to having smooth silky hair on head and face. Or maybe it's cause I've been using nasal spray a little too much, my body is confused.

So, I have to outline a plan for the next two or three hours. It's eight o'clock. I've already had one big coffee. It's getting colder, one last cup. Belly is a little too full.

Plan is simple. Go downstairs, read, charge your brain, make another coffee. Upstairs, listen to music, start writing. At 10 start the warmup, minimal - and go downstairs as soon as possible. Got it?

Alright, alright. Things are moving, imagination and memory spinning up. I haven't gone downstairs or sipped from this remaining cup, but I did take a nice relieving dump and I'm watching really nice, pure and simple brain-stimulating videos - this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqI26EfixbE

I had to deal with wood at some point. I wasn't very good at it! I keep thinking and comparing. I have shovel ready too. I just wanna be good at things.

Workout

Deadlift

17 kg ez bar for 25

70 - 120 - 160 for 5

203 - 5 reps overall; one OHG rep over knees - fail; some chalking, throwing off the wrong cues - three good OHG reps; then one mixed grip rep. All this makes me believe my missed lifts I just because I grip it wrong - I only lift it well when I don't overthink it, don't spend too much time adjusting my grip before the DL. And the barbell rotates very well!

233 for 8 - 4 reps mixed grip, 4 in straps - skin not breaking, but the chalk peels off too easily. Not warmed up yet. Done it all pretty quickly up to this point, downstairs.

233 for 8 - 2 reverse mixed grip, 2 mixed grip, 4 straps - belt high but very loose right now; I'm holding my own theories accountable. You never wanna have a tight belt, just a softly hugging one - and I don't even have that right now.

245,5 for 8 - pretty nice, break was a little too long cause I was writing 😁 Nothing particularly heavy, but I was **sooo** lazy despite my best wishes.

245,5 for 8 - nice, good pacing; filmed the video on the bodycam - I prefer it for training footage over the new phone! Although new phone is higher quality, see - but it takes up 4 times more space and my eyes can barely see the difference. Still if I was min-maxing I'd probably film with the better one. Given all that, this was a good set - fast, good cardio, I was not getting knocked out at all but I sure was gasping. The whole set took 24 seconds, as per video, which is indeed fast I believe. Liver hurt for a couple minutes once I got upstairs, so pumped 😁 And that's not it. Man, *why* the set feel so lazy? If I took the same weight to do 5 reps I can almost guarantee you I wouldn't have felt so lazy 😁 I think my body unconsciously forces me to be lazy like that, feel so lazy, strange, so strange. Me and my hidden, voiceless part - we're so in tune, despite all that, heh!

200 for 5 - RDL a-la weightlifting down to knees, holding them there

120 for 5 - growing tired, just exhausted; same feeling a little later after I unloaded the bar and tried pinching a pair of 25s - so weird, like I'm about to fall down. Probably should have eaten and slept better.

And yeah, 245 for two sets of eight - and that's on top of 233 for 2 sets of 8 - that's a small PR 😀
