August 30th, Saturday - Low volume medium-heavy Squat

 30.08.2025

IMPORTANT Squat thought - IN BENCH I don't "put" the bar on my chest, I don't RELAX with the bar on my chest; when I do a pause, I'm hovering an inch above it, max control. WHAT IF I did the same in SQUAT?

Squat

Warmup - some, little

20 for 20

70 for 5

120 for 3

150 for 3 wraps underknee - some minor pain under right knee

180 for 3 wraps underknee, a little tighter - some minor pain above left knee

180 for 3 wraps under and over, two loops each - no pain. HERE is when I came up with the IDEA of NOT "resting" in the hole, or bouncing through it. Bounce can be good, sure, and "resting" in the hole might have some application for weightlifting or such; however when it comes to strictly developing your strength and ability to move the bar in Squat I believe it's reasonable to NOT pause! In DL you never ever CAN rest... Isn't that interesting ?

180 for 3 same wraps - very good, applying those principles. Easiest set today. Coincidentally the last set as per my impromptu planning. Most of the day I had no idea what I was gonna do and whether I was gonna do it. I'm having a 4 day every day training streak lol. Not always the best idea! Light sessions are fun though. Today wasn't light but it was low in volume.

Curls / Press superset

6+6 kg dbs - 3 sets

The reason I've been doign Squat before DL is that one anecdotal time earlier this year when I had a Squat session before DL and had a good DL. I've been testing this idea by doing Squat before DL quite often. This low volume Squat, however, it feels like a good option to accumulate energy in my legs without fatiguing them pretty much at all. Good idea? Not a bad one, as according to my experience, but it'd be hard to find out if it *is* actually beneficial or not, if you wanna really focus on DL. Well, I don't wanna lose Squat too, you know? I'm walking in a bit of a loop here, inconclusive. It's important to point out a knowledge hole though. It's covered with an ASSUMPTION but there might actually be a hole under there. It's important to know what you assume, what you believe and what you know...
