August 29th, Friday - Nice moderate fun oldschool workout; OHP and Bench
29.08.2025
Sitting downstairs having my third coffe I ended up reading Suttree out loud, fixing my voice step by step. My reading comprehension is better hwen I'm trying to narrate things. My intonation is bad, but it got better. I had a bad throat since DL but iot's gotten it fixed! Also been writing and participating in culture war. Hear what happened in Minnesota? Sad times. Somehow this one might be the camel that broke the back's straw.
Wroktou
This one's oldschool today. Just random lifting! But not singles, not maxing out.
Overhead press
20 and 30
60 and 80
100 for 3
100 for 5
100 for 8 - lovely, better than previous two sets, much stricter and controlled. No belt! Cause little do you know it's a hindrance if you got a stiff enough back and BELLY and mobile hips. My ass sure was flexing here!
Bench press
60 - funny stuff, when I got my angles together it tfelt like I'm wearing a bench shirt, that's how stiff I am
60 for some more reps
110 for some reps
130 for 6
130 for 10 - felt good, very strict, pausing one inch above the chest and actually holding the bar there for a little while, great control, decent lockout. Happy!
Took the big dumbbell upstairs and decided to have fun
26 kg dumbbell - one arm press and attemt to squat with it overhead. Left - only squatted down. Managed to do it with hte right hand just now!
2 reps with left SPLIT squat... Gotta work on them split squats hehe! One of them skills actually more applicable outside of gym...
2 sets of 3 reps as I write (ch 16 scene 6!)
16 kg kettlebell - 7 reps with left; it became more of a normal squat but it hurt my left knee due to overly sharp angle. 3 reps with the right, back to a split squat; left knee still hurts. Never listen to dumbasses when it comes to squatting without wraps! Sure, tight PL wraps are insane excessive, but afaik weightlifters use the soft red devils, Inzers - same ones I got for eleven years now. They're soft but good!
Also holding the kettlebell overhead it so very different that a dumbbell. Dumbbell is lowkey harder, cause the weight it all in your hand, on top of your wrist rather than laying on your forearm, you know? But it's not the same when we talk about PUSHING them, of course; then it's different.
