May 19th - NOT Deadlifting once a week ANYMORE! DL 240 5x5 and Actually doing accessory work
19.05.2025
Lovely day. Lovely sleep, enjoyable dreams, decent food. Getting a little exhausted after giving lessons, but then my CNS got amped up. Writing.
240 for 5 sets of 5 and some accessory work. I'll amp up the weights, but only a little, perhaps - it's a good opportunity to focus on QUALITY of the lift. High speed, high energy, great acceleration and velocity!
Workout
Deadlift
20 for 10
70 for 10
120 for 5
160 for 5 straps
200 for 5
240 for 5 - pretty casual and quick, but cardio loaded π Not warmed up just yet...
240 for 5
240 for 5 lovely, no straps, five breaths and five reps - cardio decent!
240 for 5 same, mixed grip, possibly even faster - more difficult for cardio, slightly... You gotta assume that if I'm doing the reps faster it loads my strength fibers more? Well, indirectly speaking, if you're making the BREAK between reps shorter then the speed of the rep is HIGHER too...
240 for 5 - this one was a huge mess. First I came downstairs; whenever I leaned to the bar I had a massive amount of acid reflux coming to my throat. And I knew it was gonna happen when I had some tomato juice before the first working set π Lol. Some activated charcoal and a poop - made sure to wash my hands thoroughly! Back to the gym. Same! Two reps through forced willpower - long, with breaks in between; I came to conclude I'm likely not going to barf. Then three quick reps - Thank God I could do it quickly here, cause I could have been discouraged. And guess what? It's not over! Let's have some milk and see if it gets better... Potassium. Love it or hate it - you need it, just not right during the workoutπ
Stiff legged DL
200 for 8 - not bad, controlling the back - not as easy to keep it straight here! And also trying to keep the bar away from me... I guess it's Romanian DL cause I'm doing it from the racks and I'm not putting it down. Lowering it pretty far, touched the floor on one rep. Also I used hooks for once - really takes the grip out of equation... However, my upper body was cramping up a lot, especially pecs.
Glad I am actually doing accessory work after working sets! Who could have imagined...
200 for 8 - that was hard. Hooks are probably not the best choice, too much random pressure. Straps are a little better. One eye feels popped... All that just cause I'm flexing my God-given muscles.
Hanging
3 sets - feels nice
Feels good... It's all working out so far. I can't believe I just fucking thought that deadlifting once a week was an okay thing to do... I'm so dumb. My body is the evolved one; I ain't a chimp or a tiger - I'm a human, and I got just enough strength - but it's the kind of strength that can press on and on. Arthur Jones, God rest his soul, he was just an opportune grifter, an easy salesman - it's honestly a good idea to sell training to people as something they DON'T have to do often - but you do have to, if you want TRUE progress. Because we are humans, and our strength is our endurance and ability to recover. Chimps and tigers, as strong as they are - they get tired faster than we do.
