December 14th - OHP and PP
14.12.2024
Nice day. Sleep irregular but plentiful. Nutrition finally decent. In fact, I cannot stop farting. It's starting to become annoying.
So, what is it today... OHP session 13. 4 sets of 6 with 72,5%... And a 'strict single' with 82,5%. Hmm. And, of course, we'll split it up to do some PP. I expect to see real improvements in PP today...
So, we'll go 3 sets of 6 - from 90 to 98. And perhaps analogous sets of 3 in PP with around or up to 115-120 kgs.
Workout
Warmup - somewhat thorough, mostly focusing on rotator cuffs
Overhead press
20 for 20
40 for 20
70 for 6
90 for 6 - nice, I liked how smooth and in control this set was, but it was still not very powerful, not very high impulse, as it is still warmup
95 for 5 it kinda turned bad cause I didn't collect myself... The problem is that my middle back is sort of tweaking. I believe I lost some mobility in my hips and now the angle is hitting my spine. I think I should working on my hips as well as see if using a belt can help me now...
98 for 6 - alright, it's working much better, the belt does indeed help change the 'break angle'. Maybe I don't necessarily need to re-mobilize my hips - I mean, if I don't need it, that would be unnecessary, right? After all, I developed exceptional hip mobility (in the past) mostly by doing the Olympic-style press, I presume.
105 for 1 - perfectly done, great velocity and acceleration, no excessive heaving
Front quarter squat in rack - 70 for 3 - still kinda hard with full grip
Push press
70 for 3
Some serratus and lat stretching, quarter squats in rack for 10 (on back)
90 for 3
110 for 3 medium grip
115 for 3 wide grip, after a short break - not bad, it's starting to get messy balance-wise, but overall I'm satisfied with the bar speed - it still shoots out like a spark. Wrist hurts, but it's the 'nociception' type of pain.
118 for 3 alright, not the greatest, but it was okay. I used wrist wraps and medium grip (I don't think I can use a narrow grip while putting it on my shoulders, just so we're clear).
Squat - quarter squat in rack
118 - 3 sets of 10 - slow and controlled. I'm certain it's been helpful in developing a better push.
I gotta admit though, I feel I'm close to overworking just a tiny bit. I haven't had a "light" session in a while, an upstairs session. This Wednesday was seriously whack (but let's be real, workouts like this can be good too).
I enjoy feeling good after the end of my workout. It's very literally like morphine, but a natural kind - endorphin. I feel satisfied, I'm buzzing gently and my brain feels just okay. Curious physical tidbits. Also, I've been thinking about finally doing some curls and pullups... My lats have been blown up with DLs, but arms have grown kinda slim, although shapely. I look really nice on that one video about a month ago... I think it was my second DL after the break, so it must have been Nov 13th? You know, I think I actually deleted that video recently, loool... But I looked really good then.
