December 9th, Monday - OHP, PP back in shape?
09.12.2024
OHP session 12 - 5 sets of 2 with 85%. So, 110.
I've been feeling decent today. Not perfect, diet not perfect but sufficient. Friday was crazy, Saturday half and half, yesterday was really introspective and quiet and today it's picking up very slowly. My body currently has great resistance to caffeine, but that's only to be expected. It's not going to be quite the case on Wednesday.
I had one conventional large brew - but only by volume of liquid, it had about 30% less grounds than it needed for the volume of coffee, so basically it was too weak. Now I'm having a second small conventional, it's a little stronger but still doesn't feel quite right. I'd rather not have any coffee than have weak coffee. So you shouldn't be sorry about 'wasting' beans when you try to make a decent portion.
Workout
Warmup - minimal
Overhead press
20
40 for 10
70 for 8
90 for 5
100 for 3
110 for 2 - all that was sort of done as a quick warmup, relatively short breaks. Didn't warm up quite yet at this point...
110 for 2 much nicer, very nice, great velocity. This time after a longer break.
110 for 2 good
Frontal quarter squats in rack - 70 for 5
Push press
70 and 100 for 2
120 for 1 - I figured I wanna cut the volume on PP very slightly. Wrist felt okay on the lift, but not so much when I was reracking it. I believe it might be reasonable to cut the volume in longer range exercises like PP... But only very slightly. Today's volume is definitely insufficient, but we are pushing it forward.
130 for 1 super good, although the air started escaping at the top and it wasn't the most balanced rep. Again wrist feeling a little tender as I re-racked it. But overall I'm super happy with how easy I sent it in the air. The quarter squats seem to be working
Squat, quarter squat in rack
130 for 10 - you know, it's additionally helpful that I'm holding the bar on my back on this accessory exercise, cause it really helps me with normal squat, when I have to hold it on my back.
You know, I should consider myself lucky since my body is so easily growing tight and wooden - it's a natural and healthy reaction to the physical strain. People with hypermobility, for example, they struggle with the opposite side of that and as a result they can't even get strong and live very short lives. So, I am lucky and blessed. Thank God, always and forever!
130 - 2 sets of 10
Feels good.
Press from behind the head - 20 for 20 - my mobily has improved greatly, although it is a fairly light weight.
