October 22nd - OHP
21.10.2024
Usually you don't remember most of your dreams. But I just remembered one of those forgotten dreams. In this dream, Todd Howard got fired by Microsoft and I was like "No, you need to fire Emil, not Todd!"
Slept well, ate a lot but yesterday. Yesterday I didn't sleep that great, that lead to usual outcomes but I managed to avoid getting 'distracted'.
OHP session 15 - 5 sets of 4 with 80%. So, again, 95-98 kgs. Not too bad. Had two small portions of conventional brew.
I have a couple ideas... I think I'm not going to do OHP today. Let's hope it's not another empty resolution, but I think I can fix my sleep. I'm upset at myself for not seeing the light of day and I think I can fix it by having my barbell workout tomorrow. Today, however, is not going to be completely empty as I work on my rehab/prehab.
Squats - squat stretches, holding onto windowsill, staring at the moon past the shadowy clouds.
Second set - stretches, torso turns, leaning from leg to leg, focusing extra on my left ankle. I think I have some progress. I've mentioned it before, but I noticed that my ankle had gotten stiffer when I started doing squats after my return. Heh, return... Now I do have something that I can refer to as "the return". Yes, I'm back, and I'm extra evil. I want to be The Mask, he he. Well, I'm more mischievous that evil. How did you pronounce that word - 'mischievous'? Look it up, I find it very interesting. It's gotta be the election and the Halloween affecting my mood, hehe.
Third set - this more squats than just stretching, trying wider stance and vertical shins. Maybe I should make a balanced squat in between powerlifting and weightlifting squat... Well, that was the idea in the August/September. I've been struggling with this injury for over a month... Plan to come back in November, but it's not really a plan, more like an optimistic expectation. I think I want a hooligan lady, someone who'll prioritize fun, who like the idea of having kids and family but isn't craving it desperately. Sheesh, I sure am a millennial. (giga cringe - I don't think I've said anything more cringe in a while...) Still, in my dual self-contradicting nature, I'll let this impulsive thought stay. That's the whole cringe thing with millennials, isn't it? Some of us - some people would say most - are quite indecisive about a lot of things. And that is someone else's fault... Or is it?
Fourth set - just a lot of squats, experimenting with foot position. It's not really a workout today, is it? Just an 'activity', if you will, he he. I little afraid I'll break the windowsill...
Fifth set - squats and half-squats. Guess what? Half squats are underrated. Not the half squats that beginners do - but the ones that intermediates develop accidentally. That version of the exercise loads your quads way more than normal squat, powerlifting or weightlifting. It's nearly a perfect accessory exercise for both DLs and pushing in weightlifting. And that is a statement from me, a person who's gotten quite addicted to hyperdeep long pause squats. Because it takes extra power from your quads to stop your torso from falling down and then to accelerate it back. I'd love to figure out more about it, because, well, it is still more of a theory.
Sixth set - this time away from the windowsill, trying different foot position in relation to one another - front and back. Ideally, the goal is to avoid collapsing my core in the bottom of a squat. That means it'd make more sense to keep the left one a bit more to the front - or to have a more flexible left ankle. This problem, this constantly un-healing injury that I'm trying to deal with is quite the mammoth... If I manage to overcome it'll be a noticeable accomplishment.
Seventh set - now this one was actually quite a burner. 40 reps in the mid range - no relaxing in the hole, no locking out at the top, focusing on left knee/shin moving forward *all the time* on the descent - since that way my core does not get any strain at all. Nice burn all over my quads! Mostly the middle of my quads, interestingly enough.
You know, I just realized... The pants bunching up in the squat - my pockets - that really reduces the thigh-torso angle. It pushes right in the spot... Damn. Well, in my defense, I used to squat in them all the time. Four months without heeled shoes... That'll do you.
Took off my pants. Super thirsty. Went downstairs to make some tea, accidentally ate a lot of food. I wish I could have had an issue like that before my mom came home, he he. Way too much random food everywhere for no reason.

Fuck everything, fuck everyone. (Had coffee)
OHP session 15 - 5 sets of 4 with 80%. 95-98 kgs
Workout
No fucking warmup
Overhead press
20, 50, 70 - wrist pain, some wrist warmups against the wall. Garage not cold.
90 for 5 or 4 fuck everything
95 for 4 not bad
98 for 4 not bad but I'm fucking losing it... something's in my head. Or lacking... This fucking anger is draining me. It's not typical, it's not tense, it's like trying to wave a brush against the wind. I swear, I will fuck shit up one day.
98 for 4 very nice. Kind of a weird tempo I'm having today. It's a smooth move, but a slow one, the sticking point isn't noticeable - except for the lockout. How curious.
98 for 4 very good
53 for 10 surprisingly difficult
About an hour+ later, after wrapping my hands and rewrapping my left hand five times, I went downstairs to hit the heavy a few times. Mostly just random punches, I admit. My torso is not in best shape, even though I managed to hang the bag relatively easily. I was glad to realize I can kneel and lowkick too! It doesn't feel awkward or cramp my muscle. What felt awkward was the power rack xd Since I hung the bag in it, on one side. If you wanna have healthy hands maybe punching isn't the best idea, but I had to do it. I even headbutted it once, but realized I might be heading in a dangerous direction. Heh, 'heading'... Speaking off, I gotta train my neck.
Neck extension/rotation/bends in a harness cap - 2 sets
