October 17th - OHP session 13
17.10.2024
OHP session 13. 4 sets of 6 with 85-88 (72,5%)
Yesterday was kind of horrendous due to pain. Today started similar but got better. Writing, enjoying it. Had one conventional and one long-lasting cup o' moka.
Workout
Warmup - long, distracted, but pretty thorough. Both wrists are super stiff after grip training on Monday. Otherwise I feel decent, even with my current issue, as thankfully has been the case with my OHP sessions lately.
Overhead press
20 - 50 - 70 feels okay, but my wrists are super stiff.
88 for 6 lovely, wrists a little less stiff but I still ended up doing a bit of a shortened range - not putting it on my neck and not locking out the bones on top
88 for 6 super easy
88 for 6 same
88 for 11 not bad. Enjoyed doing it, but those were kinda slightly shortened reps. Not as bad as some, I made sure elbow was locking out. I filmed it from above and it's really not a flattering angle, cause from above the range looks really short!
98 for 1 - a very good strict rep, I pushed it hard to 'lock out the bones' but that kinda led to the side-skewing cause of my wrists - left somehow is way more tight than right!
Not sure if I'm down to do all the freaky high rep stuff today. Well, I know I'll do some of it! It's a good day, a great one actually. Purely technically speaking... I don't think I've... ever done... eleven reps... with eighty eight kilos... hehe. A defacto PR! 😁
Tricep extension from behind the head - 2 sets of 50 reps with a 5-spring chest expander - better than rubber! Grip is a little weird since it's a handle, basically holding with my thumbs. The third set was pretty hard.
3 sets of 50 in front of me - not bad, swollen, more difficult, slower, using my lats more now to push it down. Second set was difficult, I decided to slack less and went without any pause all the way up to 45 reps, I must have had a real 'tricep face', and my thumbs got really pumped and tired too. Forearms starting to swell as well, veins crawling to the surface like rainworms. I wish I could get my biceps pumped so easily, but that takes a lot more work - both because it's got a different structure/used differently (it's way too easy to curl with your forearms, radialis and brachialis) and because my triceps are generally less trained. No sure if that makes sense... On the third set even my left pec started getting pumped. Weird! Tricep so pumped I got a bit of a tricep sideboob, hehe. (i.e. it got pumped w i d e)
Curls, standing on an open rubber band - 2 sets of 50 - torture, feels amazing... Immediate brachialis cramp despite fully supinated hands! That's exactly what I was talking about. Also, way too much elbow noise! Well, you'd think after so many years it wouldn't bother you, but it does! Folk superstition, that's what it is. You're *meant* to make loud noise with your joints! Second set I did alternating reps, which actually made it kind of difficult, since I had to count to a hundred (and that's a big number!) That kind of felt enough, it's too much at this point xD I'm starting to burst, the pump has gotten painful.
Some time later - neck extensions, in a cap, just putting my arms there for about 5-10 kgs of resistance - 1 set of like, a lot of reps. Finally broke the spring on my 14 y/o adjustable light gripper... happens. Could probably still make is usable. 2nd set for 20+ reps - they're just warmups.
You know, sometimes, in life, all you *really* need is enough confidence to claim you're as good as you think you are, he he he. Lowkey, that's the only way I've actually done anything at all... That needs some thinking.
Neck harness, 20 reps partial deadlift off bed with fixed neck - 16 kg for 40 reps, 2 sets. Remember when I hurt my neck? That was honestly a ridiculous day...
