Saturday - Squat, messy, jam, tunnel

 21.09.2024

Nice day. Slept semi-okay, nutrition a tiny bit above average. Yesterday was a lot of fun, I jammed for the first time in a while and recorded it. My skills have dulled, a lot. Not a big deal, they are coming back, if I can maintain that careful balance of excitement without losing control!

Today's we're squatting. We don't have a idea about exactly what we're doing, but we are sort of following a rotating and extending microcycle system here as well. I feel like I wanna do some medium to heavy fours today. Sets of four. Should be lovely! I've been in touch with my legs. Feeling them. They're not in tiptop shape, tissue and fragility wise, but they are strangely good. Good in a good way (as opposed to deluded), that's what I'm trying to tell myself. Ask them what I mean, and they'll explain it, they're good at making guesses.

Workout

Warmup - fairly thorough, upper and lower body

Squat

20 - 50 - 100

120 for 5 okay, not too bad

150 for 4 okay, a little creaky but I'm ultimately satisfied.

160 for 4 a little better lift-wise, but the creaks grow louder

Decided to drop the weight and just feel it out. I'll have more energy for DLs later this week!

130 for 6 okay. It felt like there was no weight... Clearly very well warmed up. I couldn't decide how many reps to do so I decided not to give in to my burgeoning enthusiasm. Now sure, honestly. You know, frankly, at this point I really should go and follow a proper program. Hmm.

183 for 4 it was difficult, but I did it. I need to recover all of the tissues that are getting triggered in squat. They're all still too frail.

100 for 15 okay, I enjoyed it. Just up and down, some reps partial (not fully extending), some reps slowed, feeling in control.

Alright, let's conclude: it wasn't a bad workout, it was a decent one. I had some pain under my left kneecap, I had some strong ache in my strained tissue in my left obliques, my right knee wasn't flawless either, and one top of all that I somehow rolled the bar extra hard on my back when I did 183, despite having a folded t-shirt there. Those are just some issues to overcome. My left oblique simply needs time to recover, my knees need more attention to technique, and when it comes to holding the bar on my back I just need to be sure it's stable and the cloth between it and my body can't roll. The best option is actually just wearing my warm training shirt.

My throat feels a little strained and I know my overall health is slightly drained. I should remind myself to do some walking outside in the cold when I get better. There is no scientific consensus if there is direct correlation between better immune system and outside walks, but there is my subjective empirical findings that have also lodged themselves deeper in my subconscious which seems to scream that it's not only some fairly direct correlation, but rather full-on causation, hehe. I usually use the "physical culture" tag when I talk about programming, diet, exercise technique and healthy habits. Been dropping the RPotD cause I feel like it. It's been overdone. Or has it?..

I'm back to being closer to how I was in 2020 and 2021, in some ways, both good and bad. Tunnel! I just gotta get some better sleep, he he he.
