Little wins

 05.08.2024

Nice day overall. The bar really did a thing on my vertebra. It's all a little swollen, but doesn't hurt. Shoulders and elbows a little overstretched from holding it. IIRC it took me a while to get my mobility functioning well enough before I left.

I am not exactly sure how I need to work out. I'm leaning towards keeping it on the easier side. Again something like 6 sets of 4. Should be reasonable? I mean, I gotta build a new program when I get into a slightly better shape. Right now it's mostly intuitive. A list outlining cycles and microcycles. I know myself well enough to build something. But of course, there's still a great amount of nuance you can discover amidst your delusions about yourself and about your physiology. Elbow hurts... Not sure what to follow with. Not working out would have been a mistake. I simply mustn't load it in the same angles. And I will be done earlier today.

Workout

Warmup - some

Overhead press

20 for 10

50 for 10 feeling weird

50 for 10 feeling better, just may do something. I forgot about how good workouts don't always have nice warmups.

70 for 5 shortening the range a little, pressing "from hands"

80 for 5

85 for 5 kinda nice, kinda difficult. Feeling like I could do something heavy today after all.

All the stuff in my life, having to deal with those money bureaucracy issues, it's oppressing, but!.. But now I'm a different person. Not wholly radically different - it's like I've regrown a layer of skin on my hands and now I can grab stuff with it after all. I can grab stuff and this new skin can regrow, just have to balance it. Hmm, I wonder why I'm thinking of this analogy. So, my mind is now a little more solid. A more experienced, tempered soul I have.

85 for 5 nice, but I forgot I wanted to increase the weight

88 for 5 lovely, getting better. Recovering the good, groovy technique, whole body like a stiff spring. That makes the movement more powerful and gives you more flexibility in various angles throughout the movement itself.

90,5 for 5 nice enough, although hard. Filmed a video, the first one since the return!

Bench press

50 for 15 - a little awkward, but I like the technique I'm using today

JM bench press

70 for 15 - I decided I need more "little wins" in life to feel motivated about anything, so I decided to give myself a chance at a de-facto PR. If I can do 90 for 20 in JM press it'll definitely be a defacto PR cause I don't think I've ever done JM press with 90. Although it's not an extreme kind - it's more of me lowering the bar close to clavicle on a fairly normal narrow grip bench press. Nice tricep pump btw 😁

90 for 15 - nice, really hard - in a bodybuilding high-rep sense, done close to failure. It's different from how I imagined JM press is supposed to be, but it's nice. Small defacto PR 😁

70 for 15 good enough

Tricep extensions / press from behind the head

32 kg kettlebell, grip by the body (mostly sides) - 1 set of 10 reps - hard but feels natural, unlike extensions with a bar

1 set of 15 reps - feels nice

Bro I SO wanna play FNV
