Jan 07-08 - Light day and generic, but not uninspired day. Persevering. Making this winter different

 07.01.2024

Light day. Sleep mediocre, nutrition above average.

Workout

Warmup - thorough, all around curious moves

Rubber lat pulls and raised elbow one arm curls

Curls

2 - 6 - 8 kg dbs for sets of 15

16 kg kettlebell, one arm drag curls - 3 sets of 15 - kinda hard, very direct load

Floor-supported ring pullups

2 sets of 10

Pullups - I unhooked a part of my pullup bar and put rings on it

2 sets of 10, pretty awkward - they were not staying in place, rolling all around on the metal construction. But it felt comfortable for my problematic spots, which is great.

Kind of a horrible day. The usual stuff. Brain chemistry destroyed. Not a big deal. I know I can stay calm.

I'm supposed to have an OHP workout today - Week 4, Session 1, 4 sets of 4 with 80%. But I don't know what I want. I speculate it could be beneficial for me to take it light today.

I'd like to imagine that it's all the cold getting to me.

This January will be a good one. I will make sure of that. I have been making sure. Now, I'm pondering a little bit. Should I have a workout today? Well, obviously yes. But what kind? Heavy or light? Is my lacking health/nervous irritation a strong enough symptom for me to go light today? I don't know. Perhaps. Maybe it'd be better to err on the side of caution. Another expression I picked up.

January 2021 was an amazing month, but also still kinda intense, now that I remember. Reading about training - it was a mess. If I were to have a light session today it could also be indicative of a mess. But real mess would be having a "shot-out" session - lifting heavy but not enough to warm up, that would be bad.

Glad to see I'm way stronger than I was back then. Can't believe it's been three years. Hmm. Life's kinda good. It's like an artwork. Like a scratchy old VHS tape. You forget bad things, simple as that. Yeah, this January is sort of better. Obviously, there are bad moments. Let's work to make today the worst day of January. We'll need some consistensy and discipline for it, as well as a reminder that nothing really matter and that I should take it easy. Funny how it's much easier to do things that matter when you believe nothing really matters, and vice versa. The points is that even though I am taking it easy in general I am doing it. I'm doign what I need and I'll keep taking it easy. Thank God.

So, 80%, eh? Well, we can be, like, gentle with outrselves and just for for 100. If I can do it with great velocity and without and skewing and excessive cranial pressure it could be indicative of growth and progress. Let's see how well we can accomplish that.

Workout

Warmup - some, fairly basic

Overhead press

20 for 30 - I like feeling a bit of burn at the start now

50 for 5

70 for 5

90 for 5 okay

100 for 4 good velocity, but I had to use too much effort and my balance wasn't perfect. Well, there's still warmup time.

100 for 4 a little better

100 for 4 okay

100 for 4 decent, but uneven, as it often seems to happen in the final sets. I also tried not gripping the bar as hard with my right hand to prevent skewing, but that seems to have done the opposite. Also, I think if you loosen your grip you end up with the bad kind of strict move. Well, I am making my shoulders work and that's what matters.

Played BG3 a little again. I gotta tell you, ice and grease in this game are overpowered.
