October 25th 2023 - Deadlift up to 270 for 2, small PR

 25.10.2023

Nice day. Yesterday was just horrible, except for playing BG3 later. Well, not "just horrible", it had some prolonged bad moments. Not a big deal. Except it must have drained some more of my energy. I feel good enough for my late night DL today. Only having my first coffee now.

Been watching some of Steve Wallis videos. He's the cool guy that likes to camp in wild conditions, urban too. Kinda like a very well prepared hobo. I love his vids, they're so atmospheric, they stimulate my imagination immensely. Also, I've finally gotten to writing the actual story again. Once again, still too much fluff volume, a-la sims gameplay, but I still prefer it this way.

Really enjoyed BG3 yesterday, finally did that, uhm, portal to hell mission, not to give too many spoilers. Killed em all, freed the hostage. Was kinda easy, but I was overpreparing, summomed a lot of creatures - angels, djinns, and little funny ice imps. I wish there was a game like BG3 set in a semblance of real world, or maybe early 20th century, that'd be lovely. I reckon this genre of games could go really well with detective stories, especially open-ended ones, giving the fans an opportunity to forever speculate "whodunit".

Week 6, Session 2 - 5 sets of 2 with 85%. So, we might be doing 255 again, how lame. I know I need more. Perhaps we can work up to 272? Sounds believeable. 255 - 260 - 265 - 270 - 272. There, five sets. Might be a long one.

Workout

Warmup - dressing up. It feels like warmup every time, cause it changes my mindset. It helps to have a workout uniform of sorts.

Deadlift

20

70 - 123 - 163 for 5

Wanna get music and shave.

Shaved very thoroughly today. Feels nice.

203 for 3 - today I talked to my unconscious, trying to convince it to work with me, that it'll be nice and rewarding for us and our body. I know it's more of a placebo, but I still feel something. And I don't feel and upset, which might or might not correlate with my unconscious being content enough.

And, most and foremost, I did 203 for 3 overhand without any fails - which is what often happens during warmup. That is good. I was able to gather my strength before my body knew I needed it. Made sure to thoroughly slather my hands with chalk.

233 - 1 rep hook grip, 2 mixed. Tried overhand - it felt good, but I didn't lift if off the ground.

255,5 for 2 felt pretty good, mixed grip

255,5 for 2 much better, getting warmed up. Stood a little closer to the bar - makes start harder, end easier, made arms fully perpendicular to the floor - kind of a narrow grip.

263 for 2 lovely, no break between reps, mixed grip again, a lot of skin pain

268 for 2 great, feels awesome, one rep mixed, second with straps - too much skin pain

270,5 for 2 - Halleluja! Kinda easier than last set, did same grip-wise - one rep mixed grip, one with straps (making sure to wrap left hand first). It's a small PR, cause I never done mixed grip for ages now. I last did mixed grip at my oldest gym, where there was a thin bar and malnourished plates. Now I can do mixed grip again. Thank God indeed!

Washed my hands very thoroughly, removing a lot of chalk, unapologetically applied some hand cream - cause dried up crumbly skin is bad for your grip. Now I'm having some Manowar therapy, listened to old Battle Hymns for the most of the workout, switched to Louder Than Hell for the last set (Return of the Warlord is one of my favorites). I keep feeling my feet vibrating, sending music to the floor 😁 Cool stuff. Truly, Thank God for it all. For my existence. Best try not to be ungrateful, I guess!
