September 20th, Wednesday - Decent Deadlift

 20.09.2023

Week 4, Session 1 - 4 sets of 4 with aroun 80. All reasonable enough. I'll be working up to a relatively heavy weight, that's what I'm thinking.

Sleep has been very well, and nutrition above average too.

Had one coffee, one moka. No pills today. It's nice. It's right in the groove. But, as expected, I am slowed, I shall push myself with a bit more speed.

Workout

Warmup - very little

Deadlift - sets of 4

70 - 120 - 160

200 for 4 overhand, long breaks between reps though.

240,6 for 4 after shaving. A cool psychological trick I enjoy. Refreshes my mind. Also, I found a humongous pile of shit in the corridor - cleaned it up after the set. Luckily, it was mostly dry. It might have been my fault as I left my window open, hehe. Some kind of entity crawled or flew in and delivered a proper shitting in the corner. Most likely a cat.

250,6 for 4 nice, had to take a break before the last rep however.

253 for 4 nice again, first three smooth and quick, had to open my nose and wait for the 4th one. I think there is a secret technique that would actually allow me not clog my nose as much, I just have to remember it. Also, I moved the belt again - this time from above stomach to midsection. There's very little difference somehow now. It has not been loose today.

256,1 for 3 reps and a rushed failed rep; then one more smooth fast rep.

I am satisfied. I just could not overcome my confusion after the first three reps. In my foolishness, the bar was catching on the headphone wire again as I listened to Hail & Kill for the first time in a long time. I loved this song a lot in my earlier years. I rushed the rep 4 and did not position myself right, but at least I was very satisfied with how smooth and worryless the final rep ended up. I am satisfied.

Perhaps I need to work on my breathing and see if I can re-learn to use my diaphragm more on DLs, like that one day, without my nose closing up too much. We'll see.

I unloaded the plates super fast, all pinched and lifted off the bar with one hand. That's the advantage of racking the barbell in the end.

Very few people choose to load and unload plates with one hand: it doesn't seem quite practical. But when I do it - I enjoy it very much, a satisfying feeling, same as when you park a car in a spot and you see it's got even space surrounding it. Or when you land an accurate pool shot - similar feeling too, I guess. Have not played it in ages. I need to purchase one lost ball. I reckon it might have been stolen, probably not though.
