August 16th, Wednesday - Deadlift, planning sessions, really switching up
16.08.2023
Nice day. Ate well, a big meat gumbo of sorts. Added my usual spice, but this time I managed to cover my nose while I was adding it. Still sneezed and coughed. It's either pepper or sodium glutamate. Anyways, I ate well, slept deep, managed to avoid pec cramps. Legs are experiencing a "second day fatigue" syndrome, but I'll shake them up later.
Had one coffee - it made me sleepy, as usual. Then awakened. Now it's the second coffee.
It's the deadlift. I've been feeling like I'm probably gonna get better results if i train lighter, which is counter intuitive. How am I supposed to DL 300 if I don't even do 270 for doubles? Well, that's the short-er term goal.
I lot of tags on my blog are misleading. Well, not misleading, they're just very broad and general. For example, since I mentioned not just my training numbers but ideas about training I'm gonna tag it "physical culture". Also might add "coffee" - but I only usually do it when it's giving me a strong effect or when I talk about quality of coffee and review it. Yeah, I'm having Red Bushido now, I think I wrote about it a few times.
I think I might be switching to every day training. Unbelieveable, isn't it? In the first half of 2020 I trained two times a week. When I started this blog I had switched everything up in a lot of ways. (June 2020) But in autumn I went from all-around athletic lifting to more garage all-arouns powertlfting style. Dinosaur training, basically, except usually when people think of dinosaur training they think of logs, stones and axles and awkward implements. I'd like to do those more often. But yeah, "all-around powerlifting" is a more encompassing way to describe what I do. But I wanna become more of a weightlifter for real. It's a shame I forgot about cleans on Monday. Which is not a big deal, since I rembered about 3/2 - three sessions over two weeks (per exercise).
For Squat and OHP/PP sessions. Deadlift is gonna still be one per week, and on my former rest days I wanna now do bench and pullups (light). So yeah, it's gonna be Monday - Saturday - Thursday for squat. And for OHP it's gonna be Thursday - Monday - Saturday. I think I've been doing it this Spring. It was okay, but it of course lead to a slight wearout. I'm aware - I do tire out sometimes when Itrain like that. But I believe it can be avoided if I manipulate my minimax/supermax more efficiently - i.e. train medium-light more often. For example, on some days I could calculate my max off 180 on squat (which is preposterously low). 200 is medium, and 220 is the realistic number for a max.
Today, however, we have to go heavy but also be wary. It's the Week 1, Session 2 altered for Deadlift.
So, it's gonna be 5 sets of 5 with 75%. Heavy? Not really. I'll be going pretty wide and starting with 210 and ending with 240 for 5. I'll solidify the countable max in the nearest future. 210 - 220 - 230 - 245 - 240. That's the plan? Reasonable, perhaps. If all goes well.

Well, I cannot believe it, I finally purchased a subscription to poe.com. Kind of very expensive. But not expensive if you believe the numbers regarding operational costs. And 100k context on an AI? That's the dream, baby. We wouldn't have been able to imagine this in 2021 - as users.

Workout
Warmup - a bit longer than usual, since I wanna finish my coffee. I don't great predictions regarding finishing before midnight, ha ha. Usually I don't need too much specific lightweight warmup for DL. But maybe there are things I'm missing out on unknowingly?
Deadlift
20 - 70 - 120
160 for 4 overhand
190 for 4 overhand - very nice, good chalk, smooth. Took breaks after first two though.
210 for 5 okay, first one hook grip, the rest mixed grip
220 for 5 nice, straps
230 for 5 nice, grooving, put on music
235,5 for 5 very nice
240,5 for 5 not so great. All reps were okay, but I hurried up too much after my third rep and didn't breathe well enough, so my 4th rep was too slow, I felt my legs dying out. I had to drop it, waited around a minute and did the final rep. It was better than 4th.
