August 29th, Tuesday - Accessory exercises

 29.08.2023

Nice day. Not much happening. Ate well, maybe even significantly above average, quality and quanity wise. Sleep - okay as well, 6/10.

Not sure what to do today, but I know I want to do something and I really feel like I have to as well. This unsuredness comes from the fact that tomorrow is the DL.

I shall work on the things I forgot about yesterday. Nothing too heavy, of course.

Had one pot of coffee. Pleasant, and as usual - relaxing at first, stimulating a little bit later. Managed to overcome my desire for a second one.

Workout

A plenty of different ideas, a warmup akin to the one I do for OHP sessions. Captivated by tricep pushups from the wall as they provide me with a strange relieving sensation in my right forearm. Did about three sets of them, arms positioned at my head level or above. Got pumped a little.

Pushups - this time not the "a-la bench" short pushups, but long ones, with scapular destraction, shoulders moving close together, and serratus anterior flexing as well. On small dumbbells as handles

2 sets of 10 reps - a diffucult variation, but also it's the 4th day in a row I'm training pressing movements. Second set felt easier, but I chose to stick to 10 for now.

Pushups into a "trick airplane", but with time with my arms (alternating) instead of legs (like when an airplane flies between two buildings)

2 sets of 10 - hard for my obliques! Another underrated exercise. 8 felt fairly normal, the last two - I had to struggle. Second set was easier (but also possibly sloppier). Really got my upper pecs pumped as well! Another very underrated accessory exercise, especially for an overhead lifter.

Overhead hold and turns to the sides - a dangerous looking exercise, I had to make sure to do it slowly with extreme contol.

27 kg ez bar - 2 sets of 8 reps, making a mini-pause every time I looked to the front, right, front, left, and back. Every look to the left was a rep. It's a pretty long overhead hold, front delts and upper pecs felt strained the most. Second set was smoother and faster, and thus easier - I noticed I lack flexibility more when I turn to the left, rather than to the right.

Some time later

A few sets of calf and toe raises. Last friday I think I might have accidentally overstretched my left ankle when I was experimenting with some curious hip mobility exercises. This might be helpful, if only a little.
