August 19th, Saturday - Squat, bench

 19.08.2023

Nice day. Slept about enough, nice dreams, moderate sized breakfast (ate a lot earlier).

Last nice I've been re-reading the manuscript, editing a little, mostly writing up a summary. Might have missed a lot of parts. Keeping a lot of inconsistencies in mind.

Having my first coffee. Gonna do squats today. Tomorrow's some bench. I guess I'll going for 5s with a slightly heavier weight than last time. But wait a second... I got OHPs on Monday. So what'll I do then? Hmm... Perhaps I should tie bench to OHP so I do bench after presses. Makes sense? Ideally I'd want bench some time in between presses rather than up close... Definitely not before. But is it really gonna hinder my results? I dunno.

What if I benched today? Just did my squats and then some bench. Reasonable? Perhaps. Could cut the volume a tiny bit. Only a tiny bit, since it's not really in priority.

Week 3, Session 2 - 4 sets of 5 with 77,5%. So not too much. I can't do 155, I've done 150 as if it was 67.5% 😂 I guess I'll have to consider the maxes. So, we could go between 160 and 170. Sounds fairly reasonable.

Boudain from Louisiana - they are a pretty cool band. I've had them deep in my playlist since 2013. Today I'm reminiscing. Awesome music. My favorite? "King of the Cosmos".

Finsihing up my coffee. It's pretty chill. It's been a long long time since I've gone on a little caffeine fast, at least for a session. That'd immediately up my sensitivity to it... Perhaps soon. Then again, there's old argument - cause I always want a lot of coffee, not just caffeine, and caffeine on it's own is pretty deadly.

Slapping mosquitos is like a mini game IRL. Agility check. Roll d20. About 50% success every time. I feel a little sorry, I admit. But you gotta feel sorry if you wanna take responsibility for the kill. And you better never do anything you're not ready to take responsibility for. God, save my mind, please!

Workout

Warmup - some upper body stretches, a lot of lower body warmup and mobility moves, focusing on smaller muscle groups, stabilizers and ankles in particular.

Squat

20 for about 14

50 for 8

70 for a few reps

100 for 5

120 for 5

140 for 5

160 for 5 - Trying not to be loose in the hole. It I make myself too tight and slow it hinders the move. I managed to make a nice rep on the 5th - put focus on joint movement (hips to the side, pelvis back, knees forward)

160 for 5 a little better. I'm starting to feel like you only want to push into your heels only when getting out of the hole, if you continue that through the sticking point it'll be more difficult. We shall now test it.

160 for 5 okay, nice. Not perfectly smooth, but decent.

170 for 5 - I was planning in advanec to smooth out today's weight progression and the surprise my muscle with 170. It ended up alright, even though by the last rep I was overfilled with superstitious fear, almost tempted to stop at 4. So, it's a cool way to strain your mind and prepare it for unexpected things in a controlled environment - don't increase weights gradually, but in large chunks. Of course, if you wanna maximize results it's one of those things you might want to avoid. But I like the idea of preparing your mind and overcoming that superstitious mindless fear.

Bench press

50 for a few reps

70 for 5 suprisingly easy feeling as I decided to move back to medium-narrow grip. It only makes sense, since it's gonna let my pecs catch up more efficiently.

100 for 5 harder

110 for 5 easier

115 for 5

120 for 5

125 for 5

128 for 5 - very nice, easier than previous ones. Went only a little bit past midnight 😁 Feels awesome.

Felt strangely hungry. I wanted pizza. I settled for bread&jam with milk&tea - also massive insulin stimulators.

Quite overfilled with endorphins and serotonin. So happy I wasn't awfully angry today. Hallelujah!
