May 27th, Saturday - Push press
27.05.2023
Nice day. Sleep - 7/10, nutrition - no idea, 55-60 out of a 100. I look buff enough, so maybe I eat enough. One evening I noticed soemthing looking like abs, hehe. My obliques got way stronger over the last couple years, since I've understood how you're supposed to use the belt. You're the one who's supposed to tighten the belt, not the other way around!
I feel like I've been eating, but inconsistent, and some nutrients and elements might be missing. Also I feel like I might too obsessed with nutrition and it doesn't matter as much as I feel. I had a hard week last week and a difficult week so far. Today, however, I am much more refreshed. I rested well yesterday.
Today it's pushpress - Week 9, Session 1. 75% for 4 sets of 6. So, minimum today would be 105, and maximum would be around 118. if I can. I'd love to go harder. And I'm also supposed to do a "clean single" with 87,5%. I've really been neglecting those. And I've been taking too long. I have to form it better, again...
Workout
Warmup - relatively long and thorough
In the garage
Clean and press
20
50 - 70 - 80 for 5
Power cleans, a couple frontal squats. Very awkward! But it's the first time I'm doing it in many years. Feels good to bring it back!
80 for 10 nice, shoulders feel powerful. Then I did a rather awkward trick without lowering the bar as I manouevered, rotated and walked into the rack, reracking these 80 kgs.
Push press
105 for 6 awful, creaky, all the usual. My right arm feels like a brick.
105 for 6 - better, took a slightly wider grip, pushing felt much easier, and holding too
110 for 6 great
113 for 4 something went wrong, right arm overloaded and thus weak. I need to fix this. I'm not finishing on this.
113 for 6 okay, but awful technique. I'm not using my hips in the push, just my knees. That's very bad and explains a lot. Makes me wonder if it's cause I'm fatigued horribly after wednesday and thursday.
I might consider making Monday a truly light day. Like, upstairs workout light. Should be very nice. I always miss those.
Maybe this is the breaking point. That is the evil ouroboros with me. Cycle of hard work and fatigue. Extremem hard work (very pleasurable!) -> hard work masking as light work (really want the pleasure, but I'm barely getting any) -> finally the breaking point and some real rest without any pleasure and staisfaction. Oh well. That's a natty life for you! If life is a geometric graph then it's definitely a very wide wave rather than an upwards line. Oh well. It's relieving.
113 for 1 - the "clean single". Did it well, very satisfying. Put more effort into the "air"! Air, acceleration, power. Those are my three important cues. Also, I put on my belt. Maybe the belt was a smart choice after all.
Air - more air, better diaphragm, shoulders pushed up, the right one isn't sagging.
I think I will do barbell squats on Monday, but I'll make them easy. Like, really easy, I'll take a less than minimal max to calculate percentages from. And I'd love to do some more weightlifting squat.
You know, I've never done squat cleans, only power cleans. Today, when handling 80, I was basically able to clean into a squat, but my right arm failed and didn't rotate under it. I held it for a moment and dropped it. I'll keep going.
My middle finger - the one that got operated on - hurts today. A little, nothing that can actually be qualified as pain, but I feel it. I wonder why. Well, it'll get worked on too.
