Old school workout
13.03.2023
Nice day. Good sleep, decent nutrition. Worked. Spent a lot of time yesterday actually learning the new thing, already, watching a lecture.
It's 19:08. I've finished my second moka. Tempted to get another one. I planned to start my workout already. Well, it's been getting easier to not get extra coffee as two mokas has become a habitual standart.
Today it's squats. I kinda wanna get some heavy weight. Thinking of doing more than I did last time.
My shoulder joints have been hurting from the crazy stretching I did last time. And I wanna do some stretching and OHP/PPs today. It should be good for me. Not even light ones.
So, I still feel like I need some time here. But I'll start the stretching and warming up.
Workout
Warmup - bodyweight moves, stretching - olympic style and for squats.
Squat
50 for 10
100 for 5
130 for 5
140 for 5
150 for 5 alright
160 for 5 okay
Filmed it. Kinda ugly, but alright. I'm doing it deep - with a buttwink. Can't hold it on my back very well. RPE 6-7. Still doing the super wide open palm low bar grip.
170 for 5 okay, nice. RPE 6-7 as well. On one rep I got stuck and my torso bend down, but I was still able to get up rather easily after finding balance. I gotta fix the grip on the bar. Make it tighter. Cause it's kinda way lower than ever.
Good news! This is a seasonal PR. Last time I've tried doing 170 in squat I hurt myself for a long time (in August, I think). I am stronger than I was in a long time!
And another good thing - very little immediate fatigue.
I wasn't done downstairs. Unloaded the bar. Then I did a superset -
Full range raises / Overhead press
10 kg plates for 10 / 50 for 8
10 kg plates for 6 / 50 for 8 again
Stretching - front rack, loose fingers, but they are still holding onto the bar. Did 5 sets of 5-10 seconds. It got way less painful in the end.
Push press
50 - 3 sets of 3 - alright, we're getting there.
I've had an oldschool long workout and I love it. Today I'm a better lifter than I was in a long time. Thank God for all this and more!

You know, I should be more considerate with my tags. A lot of posts are tagged "life" and there's very little about my life, and a lot are tagged "coffee" and there's very little about coffee - just the fact I had it. That's why I'm not gonna tag today as "coffee". Or, perhaps, I should, seeing how I didn't just mention me having two mokas, but how this marticular amount is turning into more of a habit. And two is a good habit, cause it's not too much (most of the time).
I decided to tag today with the ancient tag "garage gym", cause it was an old school workout and I spent a lot of time down there, waiting, rather than walking in between there and my chambers. All right. And the same type of ancient tag - "dinosaur training". Althuogh for most people this particular phrase is associated with all-around lifting, in its spirit it isn't. Somebody posted the legend Brooks Kubik lifting some wood on a beach somewhere. Glad to know he's still going!
Even later
Rubber pulls
2 sets of 15 - light
Floor-supported ring pullups
3 sets of 10 - first set heavy, second set lighter, but with false grip, third - just light
I gotta bring these back on a regular basis. They're so good and very valuable - because of how light they can be! And being able to train light is an really important skill when "go heavy or do nothing" is burnt into your brain. Funny.
Grip - warmed up with CoC№1, squeezed the dynamometer to get 89-90 kgs - can't be certain. Nice for me! Left hand - did a squeeze so hard I got fireflies in my eyes, but it didn't fix the result xD (I forgot to switch it). Then I did another set and got 83-84 kgs. It's got an analog arrow, you see, can't see result quite directly.
Alright. Then I did some Vulcan closes - sets with my chrome spring set to 2-2, which, I dunno, is like CoC2.3? Not sure after all these years. Did 1 sets of 5 reps each hand, wider than parallel. It was light, so I made sure to add additional static pressure with every rep.
Not the best idea to do all this considering how the skin on my hands is doing, but, oh well, it can't always be a priority. Today grip was more important. I do it quite seldom.
