Monday, January 16th - A much nicer day, return to the old doctrine

 16.01.2022

Nice day. A little better. It's better.

The quality of my sleep has gone down significantly ever since I ran out of melatonin. Who would have expected, ha ha. Well, at least it's easier to fall asleep. But my sleep has been unpleasantly shallow (not deep). Feverish dreams in my mind. Some of them nice, most not.

Had a nice breakfast, helped my brother do his homework. He's got an ill ear, like I used to get every year as a kid. Stayed at home today. I managed to get some of the aforementioned fewerish sleep, which eventually turned into decent deep concrete sleep, even though I kept being disturbed by various calls, including scamming info-gatherers, and, to my pleasant surprise, another client. This new task, helping with a slightly older kid - might be complex, but if he turns out to be diligent then it'll be so easy. It's a matter of structuring the learning process, when you're preparing for something.

Today I feel above mediocre, which is great in comparison to yesterday. Physically and mentally. All the actual worst days I never really document. But I reminisce about them afterwards.

Decent small breakfast. Mostly proteins. Energy - 52/100, I'd say. In comparison, this wednesday I had roughly 66/100. Roughly. And that was enough to do a good DL. How come it's so little out of a 100? CNS. Great energy burner, ha ha. Well, today is a lighter workout than yesterday. Just a room workout. I'd love to do some nostalgic room exercises. Maybe use rings and rubbers. Goblet squats. Kettlebell and dumbell presses for higher reps, get some pump going. Should be very nice and bring me up further. Looking forward to tonight as well. I'll have moderate fun and more. Wanna play FO4. Reached level 20 in my new survival playthrough and somehow the game is still hard! Oh please, wish my caravan network not to be bugged this time. And even if it is - I promise not to be upset. But I really wish for its unbugginess this time. Oh please, he he.

Workout

Prolonged upper body warmup, a lot of variations of flys (not flies) with 2 kg dumbbells. Then some lower body warmup. Hips and abs feel nice and loose, although still veyr uneven, of course.

One arm press

12 kg dumbbell - 3 sets of 20 - obliques and other torso muscles nicely pumped.

27 kg ez bar - 2 sets of 10 - Kind of hard, strangely enough. Fatigued from two days prior.
I believe it's very important to do monolateral work to help with unilateral movements.

The back squat I've done yesterday hurt my left shoulder a little. I need to figure out a different way to hold the bar on my back. Also it's bent, and I position it so it rotates upwards, which is really curious. I've done very wide grip. Maybe that's the whole issue, that I have to use my shoulder strength for it. I know I can use narrow grip on it if I stretch well.

Calf raises, leaning into the wall

2 sets of 50 - both legs. Calves really burning!

2 sets of 30 - one leg each, switching legs every ten reps. Harder than you'd think at first! But, you know, calves can be so much stronger. Way stronger.

Squats

4 sets of 10+ reps - just keeping it alive and feeling good. Making sure not to keep my hip joints inside, but rotated correctly. (That probably sounds very confusing, doesn't it? He he.) There are small muscles around your body that can be controlled separately, very different from movement in every day life. It's important to be able to position your hips si that your legs don't move together accidentally when you're squatting. Still sounds convoluted... Watch Squat University. His videos aren't bad. Some of them explain what I'm talking about.

In 2020 I had a doctrine requiring me to stay positive for added anabolic benefits. I shall be bringing it back, starting now. Giving myself a sign.

Cool fact of the day - the origin of the plus sign

Plus (+) and minus (-).  (1323-1382) may have used a figure which looks like a plus symbol as an abbreviation for the Latin et (meaning "and") in Algorismus proportionum, believed to have been written between 1356 and 1361. The symbol appears in a manuscript of this work believed to have been written in the fourteenth century, but perhaps by a copyist and not  himself. The symbol appears, for example, in the sentence: "Primi numeri sesquitertie sunt .4. et .3., et primi numeri sev termini sesquialtere sunt .3. et .2." [Dic Sonneveld].

Took it from here - https://mathshistory.st-andrews.ac.uk/Miller/mathsym/operation/#:~:text=The%20plus%20and%20minus%20symbols,made%20%2D%20and%20betokeneth%20lesse.%22

Well, I think it's a nice conclusion for a monday.
