Saturday, December 17th - OHP
17.12.2022
Nice day. Feeling like all days are the same day. Woke up late, had a small breakfast with coffee right away. Now having second. Gonna do OHPs today. A lot of volume, possibly. I should try to prepare myself for other things. I yearn to go. Yet so many things are dragging me down. I wish to defeat that pointless neuroticism. Learn to use Occam's razor. Coffee helps. It's not jumbling me up today, not making me too angry. There's a clear pattern of what it does to me, cyclically.
Plan is the same as DL. They synced up. 95 for 5, 105 - 4 sets of 5. I've done this workout many times already. Hmm. That means I gotta improve the quality of my lifts today. Better speed, hopefully followed by better technique. The more effort you put in - the easier it is to lift. Curious! I shall use the same approach once I'm gone. Hopefully it'll help. I mean, you have to put in effort, right?
Workout
Warmup - all around, mostly upper body
Overhead press
20
50 for 15 - right shoulder feeling a little sharp at the point of connection between my delt and clavicle. Wondering. Well, I remember that warmup tends to look way harder than it is.
Went upstairs and did a variety of L-flys (not flies).
70 for 8 much better
95 for 5 - way too strict, he he. CNS not yet activated
105 for 4 - nice, pretty strict too, better CNS engagement
105 for three and a half reps - not too bad. Accidentally had an overly short break. Technique feels off. If only my bar wasn't bent. I tried unracking it from a position where the "horns" are pointing downwards, rather than towards me (which is how I normally do it).
I know it might seem like excuses - and I never understood, until recently, the problem with finding "excuses" - but now I do.
Some excuses are pathetic and imaginary, and some problems are real. It's not always about "not being strong enough", you know. That's not my attitude. I know I can squeeze more from myself, so I need to find all mistakes and eliminate them. I'll know it if it's actually "too much". You can tell the difference between not being engaged enough and the weight being too much.
105 for 4 after a long break - good, better, hard lockout on last rep, conventionally uneven, got a feeling of a tennis elbow on my left for some curious reason.
105 for 4 - nice, technique not perfect, but that's a compromise I'm willing to take
105 for 3 and a half - not really nice, it felt pretty awkward. Problems are in recovery and unnecessary upper body work I've done on thursday. I need better food, better sleep and calmer mind. And I really need to go, all the stupid stuff be damned into oblivion. I need to go. The tension rises from pointless waiting.
Also I have to note that I was "distracted" as well. Comes from the lack of sleep.
