January 8th - Nice workout, talking about games

 08.01.2021

Merry eastern Christmas. Yesterday blinked by, sort of. I enjoyed playing Fallout 4, and managed to complete all daily challenges in FO76 very quickly. Wanted to do some repeatable quests, but the quest givers weren't around. This morning, after a rather short sleep - did some repeatable quests as well, then went back to sleep until evening. In other words, I'm making my recovery not as good as it could have been. But it's sufficiently nice, based on how I feel. Had pasta yeterday and today. It has lotsa nutrients, but I've been feeling like I might want to get my hands on some fruits and veggies, or some vitamins of some kind. At least I'm not out of minerals right now, or so I would think. Been having oats, my specialty sandwiches (basically hamburgers) and pasta in the last two weeks. Might want to try some buckwheat or rice again. If only I could get osme good rice. And cook it properly. I'd like to find balance between sludgy porridge rice and washed rice. I feel like I'm losing out on too many nutrients by washing boiled rice.

Anyway, having nice coffee today. Not going crazy so far. Only had food in the morning. Had lotsa calories yesterday. I noticed when you're gaming intensely you tend to drink more water than normal. It happened in the past. Plus Fallout 4 seems to be brainwashing me into drinking more soda, ha ha.

By the way, I finally started Nuka World in FO4. It was hard. First, I had two attempts at killing gunners before the start of the quest - wasn't easy, assaultron got me the first time. I was about to finish it with my Rockville Slugger - which is often my "beginner" melee weapon in this game - and it fired a laser. I'M FIRING MAH LASAR! Remeber that meme? You have to be very old to do that. Before starting Nuka World I got my hands on a VATS enhanced pipe revolver, so I decided to go with pistols in this playthrough (again). Or at least start with them. My character has high strength, agility and luck, but low everything else. I decided to play it slightly differently this time. Normally I switch between melee and rifles, but this is Survival mode, so melee isn't always viable. Rockville Slugger, however, really makes VATS viable. I should get more crit perks after I boost my intelligence to get Gun Nut. Survival mode allows you to have high damage without investing many perks into it. FO4 roleplaying sustem is so unbalanced, ha ha. Survival sort of evens it out, but you still become overpowered if you play right. Running around a lot in survival. I think I will enable fast travel after I finish main quest, which is in the distant future. Funning animation in this game is kinda bad though. They made cool and easy wtweaks to make running in third person feel realistic, but your character runs a bit like a cartoon. FO76 running animation is way better. Also a little cartoonish, of course, but realistic. FO76 feels like a theme park compared to FO4. Which is funny, because I'm in a soda theme park in FO4. But it feels hard. Drinks don't properly hydrate, and that kind of ruins my immersion. MUH IMMERSION! Ha ha. That's also a meme.
I decided I'm gonna be able to go through with all the raider quests in Nuka World. I always killed them first, cause they're total baddies and the game convinces you of that. Those are the kinda people you read about in the cheap newspaper and wonder if it's real. Except in FO4 it's all even more overblown. Of course, nothing in this game is trule shocking, unless you know how to immerse yourself. And I do. Talking to Shelbie Chase in Nuka-town Market I really felt her, like, it's so heckin awful to live in constant fear. Did I experience that IRL? Not sure. Probably not. Nothing like that in my adult years, and my childhood memories and becoming more and more blurry every day. Don'y like it, but maybe it's for the better. Which reminds me, I had a totally dark dream today, right before I woke up. I was deadlifting in my garage very easily - I even power snatched a 100 (in my dream) and then a very special someone showed up. I don't hate that person (or at least I think I don't), but I really want them gone from my sight forever. And that person tried insulting me in my dream, and I quickly punched and hit them over my power rack, and that just felt so satisfying in my dream. Funny, so funny, and sad, mostly. Reminds me that my body is the one of a pathetic vengeful animal, and my brain isn't much better. Well, a brain is a part of the body, of course, so no wonder.
Anyway, back to talking about cool video games where I kill bad guys. As I said, I wanted to play Nuka World quests for a long time. I'm tempted to try and do all the raider quests if there's any way I can avoid directly hurting poor settlers in the Commonweath of Massachusets. Nate (Sole Survivor) doesn't comment enough on pre-war life, imho. Of course, my character isn't Nate. My character looks eerily similar to Pewdiepie, I just noticed. And someone else. I changed him up a tiny bit in my current playthrough. You can see him in my video of my old playthrough, the first video on my gaming channel. Let me just put a link here, maybe I'll even embed it. Memories! Love them. (Added at the end of the post)

Well, as per usual, I'm kind of very distacted, but I don't believe it's a problem. I always need enough time before a good workout. I just wish it was three hours eariler, that'd make me somewhat happier.

So, let's talk about my training. In january 2020 I broke through a many-years long plateau by increasing my overhead press by 300 grams - it was 115,6 kgs. In january 2021 I OHP'd 125,3 kgs. This january - I gotta do something as well. I was supposed to max out a while ago. I have a lot of power built up, but not re-accumulated. I think I want a milestone. Not ready to yet. Today is one of the days when I get it. Perhaps I shall devote more attention to OHP rather than DL once again. Although my DL has been going great, and maybe it's worth it paying attention to it instead. Could try riding two horses, since in some sports it's required, like strongman. Why don't I increase everything? Well, you see, I'm simply not a sportsman, but a physical culture practitioner, and I made a resolution to spend as little effort as possible for as much profit as possile. I'm really far from it, of course. And the "balance ration" of effort/profit is mostly subjective and hard to measure. We'll be measuring in very subjective percentages - for example, effort last autumn was 66%, but profit/outcome was roughly 77%. All subjective based on my opinion of what I did. This summer effort/profit was around 70/60 instead. I was having fun and getting nowhere. This spring it was around 72/80 - or at least that's what my memories tell me. You can check spring 2021 for "PR"s, if you wish, and see if I'm right or my opinion is skewed. This autumn (2021) eff/prof was around 75/62. Funny. So, ideally the ratio is supposed to be as close to zero as possible, and it's bad if it's above 1, I reckon. Once again, to reiterate, I know that it's completely subjective and most definitely skewed in many ways. But I need a starting point to reorganise it. I think today is an important moment for my thought process regarding my workout efforts. In the end, efforts matter more than profits, as long as I stay healthy. And health does benefit from physical culture, oh yes. It's rather obvious.

Well, I'm gonna go fetch one more coffee and later we can start. Very late. Hmm. Maybe a smaller coffee?

Some other funny stuff - I was swearing in my dream and saying pardon. Just funny. I think I might have been talking to someone. Damn coffee! Now I sound like a lunatic.

Overhead press

Warmup

70*3

90*3

100*3

105*3

107 - 2 sets of 3 - great, nice workout today. I'm cutting volumre though, to be honest. Ideally, if I was close to maxout I'd be doing more sets with 107. But considering 105 and 100 together - not bad.

Push jerk

70 - 3 sets of 3

40 - 4 sets of 3 with many reps going into deep squat. I was surprised to be able to do it, almost correctly. I would need more back and shoulder flexibility for heavier weights, if i wanted to do it.

Learned to move my left hand slightly further to the left - that way my shoulders stay more even. And I was pleasantly surprised to realise that I can put the bar almost on my clavicle.

Sprayed some saltwater in my nose - it's a medicine, it helped me a tiny bit to breathe in during OHP's. Had a congested nose, cleared it up. Feels nice.

Got really amped up today. I wish it would happen more often. I shouldn't complain though, I didn't have a single truly bad workout in a very long time.

Bench press

Warmup

40*10

70*10

80*25 - I thought I put on a 100, and until roughly the end of the set I couldn't believe how easy 100 was going. So I decided to stop at 25.

Noticed that I really gotta push my lats down if I don't want my left pec to have issues.

Went upstairs. Taking a break. Wondering how much my kettlebell front squat this thursday helped me with my shoulder and upper back flexibility today. I feel like they're connected. Wanna do some more fun physical culture work.

Squats

15 - 15

Kettlebell goblet squat

16 kg for 15

32 kg for 15

Front squat

32 + 16 kgs kettlebells - 16 reps (8 - switch hands - 8)

Nice stuff. And that was it for the day.
