Saturday, 25th - Western Christmas day!
25.12.2021
Actually a nice day. A little messy, tiny bit of strain, very little sleep, moderate amount of work, almost sufficient nutrition. Kept thinking about the idea of "always having enough energy" - that means not overworking during a workout. I kept thinking how I could implement it and change my overall system that I'm used to - so I could eliminate the times when I'm very low on energy.
For example, I thought of deadlift. Let's say my "old plan" would be to do 70% of my supposed max for 5 sets of 8 - but instead of that I'd take a weight that's 20 kgs less and add 5 kgs on every set until I reach the weight. Cause my "old ways" weren't that perfect, obviously. They were mostly arbitrary and the scale of their effectiveness wasn't empiracally proven. However, the effectiveness itself was. So I'm just thinking of minmaxing, supposing there's an unnecessary extra amount of work I might be doing during my "good times" - like most of spring this year, and late october - mid november (recently).
So yeah, that's the supposition - just carefully cutting the "bottom" volume, but making sure my CNS still gets to do something heavy enough (i.e. reaching 70% in my previous example).
Today I managed to start having coffee early, pretty much ran out of it. Had one batch - a handful, then another one - less. Ran out of arabica. Added a tiny bit of robusta. The taste was nice, although, admittedly, I did not finish that batch. Reasons unclear, my body possibly felt it was too much.
Overhead press
Warmup
70*5
90*5
95*5
100*5
100*5 - it was supposed to be 105, but I just forgot
Overall - nice, technique wasn't the best, but that's how it is when you're re-training.
70*5 to fix it a bit
Squat
10
70*10
100*10 felt like enough. I wanted to make today's session as short as possible, so I decided to end the garage part here.
Got a new woolen belt. Helped me today. I often feel a little too cold in my lumbar region while working out in the winter, so that helped. Also I finally got rechargeable aaa batteries, so I can start using my vertical mouse again. Not for games though, I'm afraid. Or maybe I'll learn to reach the left mouse button better, ha ha.
A variety of pics for the day - first, I wanted to share some of my Fallout 76 screenshots.
Having fun after discovering this place and finishing the photographer quest
And finally, a well deserved random picture of the day for you!
