Feb 01 - 5 year long stagnation broken! Lovely day.
01.02.2021
What a lovely day. Woke up relatively early. Had some things to do. Did those things. Had some fun with the guitar and drums - I can play single pedal faster than before, but still have some problems staying in rhythm. I think I'd have less problems with an 8-beat metronome (2 times faster), but I only had my phone today (I should consider searching for more versatile metronome apps). Decent high-fat breakfast - rice and pork. A lot of sugar throughout the day. Many cups of thick Earl Gray. Also, I scribbled out a riff for yet another song - this time in D (melodic) Phrygian. Had some coffee - the first batch tasted quite poorly, the second batch was quite nice, yet my stomach started to hurt. Had one antacid or something pill, I think it helped a bit. I remember when I had quite excrutiating stomach pains in the army, and a year after that, when I was stressed for a week. And now it's been gone for a very long time, except sometimes I make a silly mistake like this - possibly because I had an overly fat pork chop for breakfast.
Deadlift
Warmup, very few reps
230*1
245*1 pretty easy
260*1 + 1 touch and go - PR+10 KGS 😃
My old PR was 250*1 + 4 touch and go, yet I was never able to do 260. Always working to failure, doing deadlift once a week for a long time. Well, no longer! Not once did I reach muscular failure in this program - only TECHNICAL FAILURE, which is quite important. My muscles never got too destroyed - I was ready to lift heavy weights every day, and I always preserved some energy. Technical failure is lovely - that means I did reach failure after all, when my DL turned into an ugly arse DL on some workouts 😁
What else? Well, I unloaded the plates with quite some ease and went back upstairs. I think I'll do some bodyweight squats and light dumbbell overhead presses.
By the way, did I ever tell you that I love wikipedia? The whole concept of a literally endless encyclopedia that anyone can edit is magificently fascinating. And it ends up being sourcefully tested, too! Or something like that. I'm trying to be smarter that I actually am right now, ha ha!
Random picture of the day - an inspiring one! For me, at least.
Destroyed guard tower near a former royal palace Dar al-Hajar in Yemen. The palace is currently a museum, which is even more lovely. Taken from here - link - after a short stroll through the shadowy webs.
I couldn't help myself and saved another pic from that blog. Here it is -
Funniest meta meme of the (last) month - if you know, you know. This is the kind of humor that just clicks with me instantenously. And it's art as well! The author deserves recognition. Here's his twitter - https://twitter.com/tyronestash
