19 oct - training session and my "review" of the movie "Tenet"

Well, once again high on caffeine, not as severely though, I guess.

Yesterday I had to fetch something really far away from home, so I decided to go to the cinema, since I hadn't done it this year so far. Realised I missed out on New Mutants - they're just not showing em anymore, decided to check out that new Christopher Nolan movie - "Tenet".

Well, without spoilers I'd say it's definitely above average, if I were in a better mood I'd enjoy it more, I'd give it at least 78/100. I would give it more if it wasn't a time travel movie in 2020.

Time travel, well, I think it's just an overused trope. Great stuff, hard to make good though. I'm losing grip on my thoughts, I had a heavy session today. I guess I'd like to go over basics of the movie though, that one of the reasons I created this blog - so I'd have better memories of pop culture stuff, such as movies and tv shows.

Characters - likeable, main character is shown to be unusually moral (for a CIA operative). Second character - even more likeable, especially since there's so much hype about the upcoming Batman movie, he should've gotten more screen time. The woman - her personality made me sigh, I think she was intended to be relatable for women in the audience, not sure if the writers succeded with that. She got better at the end of the movie.

The bad guy - well portrayed, mostly no flaws, I didn't realise he actually wasn't russian. I haven't seen any movies with Kenneth Branagh before, so that's why I got fooled. Plus he looks like my late grandpa.

The movie was really quick paced and long - exactly what I expected. I think C. Nolan would love to make series-style movies, but they're just not really in demand right now. The best we can get is Westworld season 1. I think if you watch the second season right after the first one it's way less disappointing. I should give a shot to season 3. I should consider using better punctuation, but I'm getting tired.

The plot - well, it was nice, reminded me of a plot for some laid back crpg game. They had to do one thing, then another thing, in the end it got neatly tied together as we were supposed to be getting surprised with the old mind tricks, but some things were obvious from the start - such as the fact that "inverted" things are moving backwards in time, and if you really think hard in the first part of the movie you won't be as surprised in the second half. It's a solid movie, but I wouldn't call it a masterpiece, not in 2020 anyway - time will tell.

Visual FX - on a decent level, cinematography - 75/100, also simply solid. Soundtrack - 69/100, almost Hans Zimmer. The pace and flow of the movie - 64/100, but that's just my opinion.

Now I just want to describe what I did today.

19.10.2020

Really good day. Decent breakfast, sleep is at least 75/100, hormones and such feel ok, mood is uplifted.

Started in my room - long shoulder warmup with small dubbells

Overhead press

49 - 2 sets of 15

Band supported pullups

3 sets of 15 - nicely pumped - one set overhand, two underhand

Deadlifts

Warmup

190 - 5 sets of 1

240*2 tough and go - heavier that I expected. I think next time I'll go for heavier weights it'll be on thursday, next week, so it's a 1.5 week break.

Finally did some vocal work - was quite satisfied with a couple passages of my current song, shot my throat a bit, a lot of stuff will need to be reworked.

Did about 5 sets of pinching - plates 20+20 - easy for the right, succeded nicely with the left, the recovery is going great. Now I just gotta pace myself.
