Saturday - Bench & Drums!
Pretty great day. Throat a bit raspy, it's getting cold.

"Tiny bench" press
60*10
80*10
100*10
115 - 2 sets of 10
115*9 - well, 115 is a volume PR. Now I can confidently say that my new bench is better than my old floor press (my best result in it was 120*10 with just shoulders).
Due to my finger, technnique today was pretty atrocious. On the last set I failed to keep my shoulder blades together. Not gripping with your middle finger is pretty stressful for the wrist. But I'm really happy that my bench didn't actually go down, after my 4 day hospital vacation messed up my metabolism.
Narrow grip bench - tried doing sort of a JM press, but couldn't really control it well
60*20
70*20
Mostly half reps, nice pumping however.
Accumulation squat
60*10
80*10
100*10
100*10 felt pretty exhausing, considering I managed to fit all this volume in one hour. Got really sweaty there.
Right after that I went to my new drumming room - sort of a studio - and started testing my new condenser mic. It's a pretty cheap one, but it was kind of advertised as something sufficient for music recording, and after recording my new triangle yesterday I was really satisfied with it. (I got a mic, triangle and a cowbell delivered to me yesterday). The cowbell is super bright, just sounds like a bell, not like the one in Don't Fear the Reaper. I like it too, it's pretty aggressive in a way. And cheap, most importantly. Really hyped about playing the triangle too, there's so much stuff on the internet about it.
Re-muffled my bass drum - I had one rolled-up sleeping bag in the middle of it, replaced it with two towels, both touching the heads. Added a massive piece of cloth to the inside of the floor tom, not exactly sure if it sounds good, perhaps I need to tune them all up more.
Well, I exercised for a dozen minutes and then I shoved the mic right between the snare and the kick drum. As a result, it was too loud, the bass was overwhelming. I'd post the audio here just as an example, but my audience is currently limited to myself, and I can listen to it anyway.
I have a lot more exercising to do. My finger felt pretty great this morning, much more mobile. Really want to play guitar, and I can, but I'm slower than I'd like to be, and I keep doubting whether I should be doing it when I'm playing, perhaps it's not the best this for my recovery.
So, next time I'm recording drums I think I'll be placing the mic somewhere high, around my head level. I'd like to avoid it shaking too.
Here's a pic of my new mic, NOVELEKA MIC-4
