Today I decided to start writing a post before my training session. I'll fill it up throughout the day.
Broke the lightest string on a guitar while watching a lesson about bends. Ordered strings, but I have to take something else for free delivery. Thinking of buying a cowbell, since I can't afford a drum set right now 😁 Made coffee with 70 beans, plan to do some heavy chinups with more light work. Thinking of doing heavy squats today instead of wednesday, so I don't have dls on the next day after squats. Gotta accumulate that energy.
Thought about how you can't be a professional philosopher or a theologian. You can't get paid for thinking about (or searching for) wisdom or God. That's what Socrates was against - the sophists, who were getting paid for twisting the truth and teaching people how to do it.
Lat time I studies modern philosophy I passed the exam automatically, because I was really enthusiastic during the seminars (meanwhile, I wasn't exactly ready to pass it lol). There's just always something so mindblowing in philosophy for me. People love "mindfuck" movies (like Inception) for making them feel weird, and that's how I feel after a minute of thinking about some higher matters. It can be exhausting, I guess.
I also annoy some of my beloved friends in Elder Scrolls Online when I start talking about abstract of political things in the chat. Once I was told to shut up, it was funny but felt slightly unpleasant. One more reason for me to try and get further education - so i can talk to people who are actually interested in the same things as me. It's gonna be hard if I try to do it, but after turning it my bachelor thesis I'm not as afraid. I feel like I'd be able to write about all the things that interest me and then connect it to the theme of my work.
What does interest me the most? Human. I've come to conclude that the human is the most interesting thing for me, even before I joined my university. Oh, what a long road it has been. It's going to be 10 years this september. 10 years of slacking of most of the time, and doing a little bit of intense enthusiastic work. Too bad that it's not the most efficient way to learn, to say the least. Learning is about disciplined regularity. It doesn't have to be disciplined with a high enough level of enthusiasm.
Same with workouts - I had to stop lifting heavy to grow stronger. It's like "my old self" finally returned. I've been trying to summon "my old self" since autumn 2018. Had some failed attempts and setbacks. 2020 started out nicely with me breaking the psychological barrier and setting an "actual PR" in the press (it went from 115,3 to 115,6 at a much lower bodyweight). Now I'm thinking of working to press a 100 kg stone. I was close in 2014. July was planned to be a "lighter" month, but so far I feel like it would turn out to be a miss. In fact, I could say that june was a "lighter" month and compensate it thusly.

Decent workout
Parallel bar chinups
3, 3, 3
+25 kgs*3
+50*1 shorter than I wanted
*1 better
*1
Then a three minute set - 2 ok reps, 3 less ok
Another long set - +25 - 5 ok reps, 1 short, then 10 sec static hold (made sure the chin is over the bar)
I think there is something in doing those long sets with breaks on the floor, not sure what though. Lats weren't the most pumped, obviously.
Yesterday I recorded final bass parts for my song, so today, I figured, would be a nice opportunity to record vocals, so I took my laptop with me to the garage. Recorded the first part before the working set in squat, then my throat became weaker, I still recorded the remaining parts. I also video recorded most of the process, might post it here completely unedited, because why not? I already act as if someone is watching me on a tv screen. Had that habit since I was very young. Perhaps it's one of the reasons I like talking to myself. This blog is pretty much a continuation of that habit.
Squat
Some warmups
150*15 nice
Legs didn't get too tired, ran out of air, feels great ☺ This is way easier than going amrap on touch and go deadlift. I think I was undersquatting a bit. Thought about how it's pretty much a stigma in the eyes of the internet folk to not squat deep. Away with them all, I say. The only people that need to do deep squat are weighlifters, not even powerlifters. I can't allow myself to risk my back, plus I do have some other issues (like my hamstring and ankle, they're still stiff (after surgeries)).
Which reminds me - I should work my hamstrings. Perhaps do some of those "nordic leg curls" too.
...
Good news - both my hamstrings are way stronger than what they were a month ago. Left one is still ahead however. Did 15, 12 and 10 kilos for 10 reps with each. Hard for the right, aerobics for the left. Now to stretch the ankle a bit.
After checking out the song I've come to a conclusion that the vocals do indeed sound tired. Have to wait until the next training session. Since I did heavier squats today, I can make wednesday into something else. Normally it's an overhead day as well. (I'm totally not doing bro splits anymore lol) Perhaps I should stop thinking of my workouts within the week. Too bad, I love associating certain days with specific activities. But I hypothesize that it's a problematic way to think about it.
I think I'm not going to ipload the video from today, because I don't want to release parts of the song before the song itself. I think I'd like to jam a bit today, see if there's any Manowar songs that don't have the top string in them. Perhaps I should search for the bass tabs as well.
